Mission Hill Hospitality, a KSL Capital Partners portfolio company focused on transforming select service and extended stay hotel investing, announced it has acquired the Residence Inn by Marriott at 800 Frank Sottile Blvd. in Kingston, NY for an undisclosed amount. This is the 14th property added to the Mission Hill Hospitality portfolio since the company was launched in March 2021.

“Select service and extended stay hotels are driving one-third of all hotel volume and are increasingly popular among leisure travelers seeking destinations within driving distance. This well-located asset is the only branded extended-stay property in the region renowned for its abundant four-season recreation activities, events and cultural attractions,” said Greg Kennealey, Mission Hill Hospitality CEO. “The acquisition highlights our strategy of acquiring high-quality select service and extended stay hotels in markets with strong fundamentals, and Kingston is currently experiencing significant investment.”

Recent investments in Kingston include a $133 million redevelopment project to expand Health Alliance Hospital and the revitalization of a former IBM industrial site. In addition, NoVo, philanthropists Peter and Jennifer Buffett’s foundation, has invested over $160 million to purchase real estate, develop properties and support local community initiatives.

Built in 2016, the four-story Residence Inn features 92 guest rooms, consisting of a combination of king bedroom studios and one- and two-bedroom studios. Amenities include a fitness center, indoor pool, outdoor patio with a fire pit, and 24/7 sundry shop. Located directly off Route 9 West, the property allows easy access to nearby Bard College, Green Acres Golf Club, Bluestone Wild Forest, Hunter Mountain, and Belleayre Ski Center, as well as an abundance of the region’s in-demand wedding venues.

Its location in the heart of the Hudson Valley, just 90 miles from New York City, provides guests with opportunities to explore a multitude of activities and attractions, from hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, skiing, and golfing to historic and cultural attractions, a bustling restaurant scene, craft beer and more. The Residence Inn is in close proximity to some of Kingston’s best bars and restaurants, many with a farm-to-table focus featuring local, seasonal ingredients. The hotel is situated just north of the Shawangunk Wine Trail, comprised of a number of family-owned wineries where visitors can sample the region’s different grape varietals. The trail is also home to a number of events and concerts throughout the year.
