Hyatt Announces Extended Suspension of Operations for Jamaica Resorts Following Hurricane Melissa

Seven Hyatt resorts will remain closed for nearly two years to complete extensive repairs and upgrades following Hurricane Melissa damage.

CHICAGO, IL — Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced an important update regarding its properties in Jamaica following the impact of Hurricane Melissa, which struck the island in October.

After a comprehensive assessment of the physical damage to the resorts, Hyatt has made the decision to extend the suspension of operations for the following hotels until November 1, 2026:

  • Breathless Montego Bay Resort & Spa
  • Dreams Rose Hall Resort & Spa
  • Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall
  • Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall
  • Secrets St. James Montego Bay
  • Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay
  • Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort & Spa

This timeline will allow the properties not only to repair storm-related damage but also to implement enhancements that will elevate the guest experience and uphold the high standards of Jamaican hospitality as the island continues its recovery.

Guests and World of Hyatt members with impacted reservations will have the opportunity to rebook at select Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts in destinations such as the Mexican Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Aruba, Curaçao, or St. Lucia.
