Demand Calendar cuts hotel forecast error in half at Classic Norway Hotels

Demand Calendar today launched at HITEC 2026 an automated daily forecasting function that cut hotel forecast error by roughly half in back-tests across Classic Norway Hotels' portfolio.

Classic Norway Hotels cut forecast error by ~50% across 22 properties using Demand Calendar's automated BI platform, reducing Excel use by 95% and aligning all departments on a single nightly-updated forecast.

The function runs on 22 of 23 facilities at Classic Norway every night, combining each property's existing forecast with booking pace, competitor pricing, weather, and market-demand signals. In back-tests covering 2024 to present, the automated forecast improved on Classic Norway's previous baseline at nearly every property and planning horizon measured.

Most hotels still build their forward forecast in a spreadsheet that one revenue manager owns, updates manually, and emails to the rest of the team. Demand Calendar replaces the rebuild cycle with a single forecast that revenue management, sales, marketing, F&B, operations, purchasing, and finance all read from the same place. Classic Norway's commercial team reduced its Excel use by approximately 95 percent after deploying the platform. The forecasting function is included in the Total Revenue BI tier, with implementation under 60 days from contract to go-live.

Hotel teams are drowning in data and starving for clarity. Finance has one version of the numbers, Sales has another, Revenue Management has a third. By the time the debate is resolved, the opportunity is gone. We built this function to end that argument with a single number, retrained nightly, that every department reads. The measurement on Classic Norway showed that automation cuts the commercial team's forecast error roughly in half — the platform makes them sharper. Anders Johansson, Founder and CEO, Demand Calendar

Demand Calendar transformed how we manage our commercial strategies, making us more proactive rather than reactive. Our entire team now works out of one place with the same data, and our use of Excel has dropped by around 95 percent. Alexander Killi, Director of Revenue & Distribution, Classic Norway Hotels
