Rio de Janeiro hotels posted best August in 10 years
Rio de Janeiro hotels hit their highest August RevPAR since the 2016 Olympics, reaching BRL612.29, driven by the Copa Libertadores at Maracanã and Festival Medio y Medio.
Rio de Janeiro’s hotel industry posted its highest August revenue per available room (RevPAR) since the 2016 Olympics, according to preliminary data from CoStar, a global leading provider of online real estate marketplaces, information, and analytics in the property markets.

Occupancy: 72.7% (-0.1%)
Average daily rate (ADR): BRL841.91 (+16.4%)
Revenue per available room (RevPAR): BRL612.29 (+16.3%)
Rio de Janeiro’s occupancy (88.2%) climbed to a monthly high on Wednesday, 19 August thanks to the CONMEBOL Libertadores match between Flamengo and Cruzeiro at Maracanã Stadium. Demand that night pushed the market’s ADR and RevPAR to BRL825.44 and BRL728.40, respectively.
A few days earlier on Saturday, 15 August, Festival Medio y Medio lifted Rio to its highest ADR and RevPAR of the month at BRL952.24 and BRL756.51, respectively. That night, occupancy came in at 79.8%.
