Your Customers Are Always Watching
Tips On Thursday #5
By Steve DiGioia, Customer Service Crusader, Author, & Trainer

What do you do when you think no one is watching?
Are you chewing gum, twirling your hair, or resting your foot on the wall behind you? Do you tell off-color jokes because you think no one can hear you? Is your posture one of confidence or submission? Is your face warm and welcoming to others or stern and stand-offish? Would a customer feel comfortable approaching you or rather seek out someone else for assistance? It really matters…
Many years ago, someone much wiser than me, told me that "when the phone rings, it's money". "When the door opens and a customer comes in, it's money". "When you get an email from a prospective customer, it's money".
Your customers are always watching, so never turn off potential business with an unspoken attitude or negative body language. Remember: We don't necessarily see ourselves as others do.
We're in the business of pleasing those that wish to give us their money…
The least we should do is take it with a smile!
