While new hotels continued to open during the Covid period, 2023 promises to be a bumper year for new destinations to discover worldwide. Iconic hotels on every continent will be ready to welcome travellers in search of new, high quality and authentic experiences. There is also a trend towards establishments that offer facilities for local residents and that blend naturally into their surroundings.

Finally, there are many upcoming mixed-use resorts... offering private residential accommodation, whether flats or villas, for rent or purchase, self-managed by the brand or as a combo, with the added benefits of hotel services.

Here's an overview of the 35 hotels we expect to open next year. In France

Several luxury, designer and lifestyle hotels are expected to open in France in 2023.

🛎️ Hotel Aurore in Paris

As first European hotel for the "1 Hotels" eco-luxury hotel group, the Aurore will be located in the heart of the 13th arrondissement of Paris, in the Tolbiac-Chevaleret district and therefore in close proximity to the François Mitterrand library. The hotel will have 140 rooms, including 23 suites, a café overlooking the Claude-Lévi-Strauss promenade, a restaurant-bar with a panoramic view, as well as a 1000 m² fitness centre and spa and the "Nuage Café", a coworking café. Within this 12,700 m² property, a second building will house a youth hostel, the Slo Living Hostel, with 179 beds, as well as a cabaret designed by La Bellevilloise.

The two buildings are designed in wood and bronze metal, and will be connected by a breath-taking 28-metre-high planted walkway.

EKLO Paris is the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles exhibition centre's new hotel. As a complement to the existing accommodation offering, the hotel provides an innovative and ecological concept through its affordable urban lifestyle positioning. Many environmentally responsible features will be implemented here, such as preventing water, energy or food wastage, as well as sorting and recycling of waste.

Catering for both leisure and business travellers, its 340 rooms range from single to family to dormitory rooms. There is also a restaurant, a bar, a shared kitchen, meeting rooms and a panoramic rooftop with views of Paris.

Scheduled to open late 2023.

Located on rue du Croissant, near the Grands Boulevards and a few minutes from the Garnier Opéra House, Citizen M Opera will soon be welcoming travellers and residents of the City of Light. It will have 84 rooms, work and relaxation areas, a bar and a 'canteenM', open 24/7. In keeping with its positioning, the hotel will also focus on promoting local Parisian arts and culture with 120 works of art by local artists displayed outdoor, indoor and in-room.

🛎️ Hyatt Place in Cannes

Hyatt is hitting Cannes, opening a 152-room and 7-suite Hyatt Place. With a prime seafront location, it will be close to one of the marinas. Guests will have access to the city centre and the Old Course at the Cannes-Mandelieu golf club.

It will feature two dining areas, the Zoom Glocal Dining bar-restaurant, a rooftop, an infinity pool with sea views and a state-of-the-art fitness centre. The glass façade will bring modernity and light to the lobby and lounge, which will be two floors high. It will also be an ideal venue for events on the Côte d'Azur with a dedicated 400m2 space.

🛎️ Canopy By Hilton in Cannes

Hilton is also coming to Cannes with the opening of a Canopy in the heart of the city, in the emblematic Suquet district, close to the Midi beaches, the Promenade de la Croisette, the Old Port and the Palais des Festivals. This glamorous hotel is ideally situated. Comprising 143 rooms and suites, the majority of which have balconies and sea views, it will also feature a 400 square metre rooftop terrace, a bar and restaurant for both tourists and locals, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, fitness facilities with a spa, as well as 380 square metres of conference and events facilities.

🛎️ Mama Shelter in Rennes

Located in the Hôtel de la Monnaie, the prestigious building on the Place des Lices in Rennes, the Mama Shelter in Rennes is made up of a group of five buildings from different periods, all of which are listed as heritage sites. The whole represents a surface area of 11,000 m2, and a 4-star hotel with a relaxed style.

119 rooms, "all unique", three bar-restaurants including a panoramic restaurant, a rooftop terrace, a spa with a swimming pool, a space for seminars and short supply chain food stores... like all Mama Shelter hotels, its aim is to be an integral part of neighbourhood life.

Scheduled to open in early 2023.

🛎️ Wood Hotel & Spa in Trois-Bassins - Reunion Island

Situated on the west side of the island, at the Pointe des Diamants, on the Trois-Bassins municipality coastline, the Côté Sun Hotels group's 4-star boutique hotel will be aimed primarily at local tourists, but will no doubt also attract international visitors.

As its name suggests, the hotel is built mainly in - environmentally responsible - wood, with 84 units: junior and senior suites, 5 villas for rent with panoramic ocean views. On the services side, it will provide a huge 50-metre swimming pool, a large spa, a wine workshop and a gourmet restaurant. The opening of what will be the first luxury hotel in the region is eagerly awaited by the islanders.
