The report tracked data for the total U.S. and individually highlighted performance for Washington, D.C., New York, Houston, Miami and Seattle. The report includes data on revenue and expense pertaining to the rooms, food/beverage and undistributed departments.
According to the published report, the U.S. as a whole performed positively in 2018, in both top- and bottom-line measures. Profit growth, or GOPPAR, was up 3.4 percent year-over-year, bolstered by gains in TRevPAR (up 2.9 percent YOY) and a muted increase in total payroll growth.
"Despite some challenges, hoteliers in 2018 did an admirable job on both the revenue and expense side, which showed up positively in the bottom line," said Pablo Alonso, CEO of HotStats. "In order to continue the momentum in 2019, hoteliers will need to be cost conscious and revenue focused in order to maximize flow through."
