Belmond announces Andrew Gaskin as Executive Chef at Belmond Cap Juluca, the global brand's newest island-chic Caribbean hideaway opening on November 17, 2018. As the recipient of Best Chef Award 2017 (a top 300 list voted for by industry piers) and the winner of two silver medals at the ScotHot World Culinary Grand Prix, Gaskin brings his diverse culinary experience to the laid lack island of Anguilla. His goal is to introduce healthy cuisine and relaxed dining concepts that reflect the sanctuary of Belmond Cap Juluca.

John Vasatka has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer at Ani Villas

John Vasatka will take over as CEO this month for the Ani Villas’ collection of private resorts in Anguilla, Sri Lanka and Thailand, as well as a fourth property due to open later this month in the Dominican Republic. Vasatka has worked with upscale luxury hotels for nearly two decades, including 12 years as general manager at various Aman Resorts’ locations in the Caribbean, the Middle East, Sri Lanka and Thailand. His most recent position was as GM at the Malliouhana, an Auberge resort on Anguilla. He will continue to be based on the 35-square-mile British territory in the West Indies where Ani Villas first opened its doors in 2011.

Marc Alvarez has been appointed as Executive Chef at Malliouhana, An Auberge Resort

Malliouhana, An Auberge Resort announced today the appointment of Marc Alvarez as Executive Chef of The Restaurant at Malliouhana. Reclaiming its place as one of the Caribbean’s most iconic hotels after a multi-million renovation unveiled in 2014, Alvarez will focus on all aspects of the culinary program at The Restaurant and throughout the resort. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Alvarez will take the culinary operations of Malliouhana to new heights with his expertise in authentic Caribbean cuisine.Most recently, Alvarez served as Executive Chef of Cove Castles Restaurant in Anguilla, where he oversaw the re-opening of the restaurant to the public and implemented a wood-burning menu concept. Prior to that Alvarez took a role as consulting chef for popular Anguilla hot spots Straw Hat and The Pumphouse. Before returning to the Caribbean, Alvarez held positions at New York restaurants Danny Meyers Café 2, Crispo Restaurant, The Polo at The Westbury and Aureole, where he worked with Michelin three-star Chef Charlie Palmer.
