Tony Chisholm has been named General Manager at PULLMAN Bangkok Hotel G

A valuable asset to Pullman Bangkok Hotel G, a New Zealand national, Tony, brings with him over twenty years of experience working in the hospitality industry at a senior management level across the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to his recent appointment, Tony led the preopening team at Sofitel So Singapore. Under his dynamic leadership the luxurious boutique heritage hotel included a partnership with fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld Tony has also managed Accor properties in Brisbane, Ho Chi Minh, and Dalat. At th e stylish 469-room Pullman Bangkok Hotel G, Tony aims to build on the modern hotels already considerable reputation as a chic lifestyle brand with its finger on the citys pulse. Peter Semone has been named Chairman of the Board of Trustees at The PATA Foundation

The PATA Foundation is pleased to announce the election of Peter Semone as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr Semone replaces Mario Hardy who has served as Chairman since June 2012. Mr Hardy was appointed the Chief Operating Officer of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in January 2014. He will continue to support and advise the PATA Foundation as needed. Mr Semone currently serves as Chief Technical Advisor of the Lao National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (Lanith), a project being implemented under the auspices of bilateral cooperation between the governments of Lao PDR and Luxembourg. Lanith, headquartered in Vientiane, Lao PDR, seeks to improve the quality and competitiveness of tourism sector human resources in Lao PDR. Prior to Lanith, he served as Team Leader of the Asian Development Bank-funded Mekong Tourism Development Project (MTDP) in Vietnam. MTDP focused on small-scale infrastructure development and capacity building measures in support of the tourism sector. Mr Semone also served as Vice President of PATA where he was responsible for directing its regional offices in Europe, the Americas, the Pacific and China and providing strategic leadership to PATA's many regional and global initiatives. Early in his career, Peter founded a destination management company, which managed shore logistics for major cruise ship visits to ports in Indonesia.

Nicolas Pillet has been named General Manager at Eastern & Oriental Express

Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. has appointed Nicolas Pillet as General Manager of the Eastern & Oriental Express, South-East Asia’s only luxury sleeper train. Pillet, a long-term employee of Orient-Express Hotels Ltd., has joined the Eastern & Oriental Express having been General Manager at Ubud Hanging Gardens in Bali for the past eight years. During his time in Bali, Pillet’s contribution has been invaluable, putting the hotel on the map as one of the best hotels on the island, in particular, integrating aspects of the local community into the hotel’s daily life, creating memorable experiences for its many discerning guests. Prior to his time in Bali, Pillet successfully opened another Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. property, La Residence Phou Vao in Laos, in 2002. He began his career in hospitality in 1991 and was Executive Chef at another of the company’s properties in Bali, Jimbaran Puri Bali. Based in Bangkok, Pillet will oversee all areas of the train, working closely with Train Managers to ensure high standards are maintained throughout each trip. This includes the Classic routes between Bangkok and Singapore and vice versa, as well as the longer Chronicles of South-East Asia journeys that depart throughout the year. As General Manager, he will manage the dedicated onboard team and report into Gary Franklin, Managing Director, Trains and Cruises, front running new and creative ideas to raise the profile of Asia’s most famous train and making sure targets are met.
