Haje Roger Thurau has been appointed as General Manager at InterContinental Bellevue at the Avenue

General Manager Haje Roger Thurau joined InterContinental Hotels in December 2022 to lead the Pre-Opening Team to launch the world's largest and oldest luxury hospitality brand's premier hotel in the Pacific Northwest. Thurau is a 30-year hospitality veteran with international assignments across a variety of upscale business and leisure, convention center, and resort properties with luxury brands around the globe, including Germany, Spain, the Island of Mykonos, the Indian Ocean Islands territory, and various European destinations. He has a passion for the culinary arts and providing impeccable guest experiences. He believes that "The product and its team stand in the foreground, not the GM, as alone you can do a lot, but with the support of a team, you can do extraordinary things." Born in Germany, Thurau now calls Bellevue, WA, home with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys multi-cultural cooking and staying active in a variety of outdoor sports.

Angela Cooper has been named Chef Concierge at InterContinental Bellevue at the Avenue

Chef Concierge Angela Cooper is one of only three Les Clefs d'Or members in the state of Washington. Also known as The Golden Keys, Les Clefs d'Or is an elite fraternity of hotel concierges globally connected, committed to professional development, and driven to setting new standards for guest service perfection. Angela brings to her new role more than two decades of hospitality expertise at some of the highest-volume resorts and casinos in the nation, including The Cosmopolitan and Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas, where she played an integral role in maintaining the property's 5-Star status and creating memorable experiences for VIP guests. When not assisting guests, she loves learning about new places and cultures while traveling around the world.

Matt King has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at InterContinental Bellevue at the Avenue

Matt King, Director of Sales and Marketing, is a seasoned sales and marketing professional with a strong background in the Bellevue, San Francisco and Seattle markets. With over two decades of experience in the hospitality sector, he has made significant contributions to luxury establishments such as the Lotte Hotel Seattle, where he played a key role in its successful opening in 2020. During his career, Matt also led the sales teams at The Arctic Club, Residence Inn Seattle Convention Center, Hyatt House Bellevue, and Crowne Plaza in Downtown Seattle. Matt holds a degree from Washington State University and resides in North Seattle with his family.

Ashnil Singh has been appointed as General Manager at Hotel 116

Hotel 116, a 176-room property located in Bellevue, Wash., operated and managed by Coast Hotels, has announced the appointment of Ashnil Singh as its new general manager. In his new position, Singh will be responsible for leading and managing all hotel operations.Singh brings 12 years of hospitality experience to his new role. Most recently, he held the position of general manager at Best Western Plus in Renton. He also has held manageme nt positions with Red Lion Hotel, Wyndham Hotel, Choice Hotel and IHG properties.A native of the Fiji Islands, Singh currently lives in Kent, Washington, with his wife Shamli. They both enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors. Singh is also an avid sports enthusiast and a Seattle Seahawks fan. He holds a business studies, accounting, and finance degree from Fiji National University.

Rachel Blake has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Seattle/ Bellevue Downtown

InterContinental® Hotels and Resorts continues West Coast expansion with debut in Pacific Northwest

John Pivar has been appointed as Executive Chef at Hyatt Regency Bellevue

Pivar developed a passion for food at a young age while watching his grandmother bake fresh pastries and breads, then launched his culinary arts career in his hometown of Chicago. From there, his passion for cooking took him all over the country and beyond, including the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Sanibel Harbor Resort, Fort Myers, Fla.; and Scottsdale Princess Resort, Scottsdale, Ariz. all AAA four-star diamond resorts – Hyatt Regency Curacao Golf Resort, Curacao, Caribbean; Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Ind.; and most recently Hyatt Regency Lost Pines, Bastrop, Texas, where he reconcepted the nine seasonal and year-round dining outlets and forged partnerships with local vendors and farms. Pivar authored two books, “Fire It Up: Grill with Flavor, Flair & Fun” and “Taste the Vinoy: Without Reservations,” and was recognized by the James Beard Foundation Dinner’s “Best Hotels Chefs of America” series. Michele Oliveri has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hilton Bellevue
