Elmer Benavente has been appointed as Executive Chef at JW Marriott El Convento Cusco

A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Peru with studies in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Elmer Benavente Lobon is an insightful Peruvian chef with strong culinary experience and leadership skills.At his young age he has an extensive background in restaurants and hotels in Peru, Australia and Mexico; to name a few, the world-renowned Tetsuya's, Quay and Bennelong at the Opera House in Sydney and Pujol in Mexico City.He began his professional career in Australia, and thanks to the bi g-name restaurants in which he worked, he had the opportunity to do international events in Japan, the United States, Mexico and New Zealand. After his time in Oceania, he returned to Peru to stay in the Imperial City and thus fuse the culinary experience in international techniques with local products, becoming the Executive Chef of local restaurants with great name, such is the case of Morena Peruvian Kitchen and Ceviche, which are located in the Plaza de Armas in Cusco.

Eduardo Ortiz has been appointed as General Manager at JW Marriott El Convento Cusco

Eduardo Ortiz has an extensive professional career of more than 20 years in the hotel industry, during this time he has held leadership positions in hotels located in Mexico, Thailand, Brazil, Guam and Peru. During his career he has participated in important projects such as the reopening of The Ritz Carlton St. Thomas, the opening of The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico, the conversion of the current JW Marriott Panama and a task force in the area of Food and Beverage at The Ritz Carlton Reserve Zadun.His beginnings date back to 2000 with the opening of the JW Marriott Hotel Lima, where he served as supervisor of the Food and Beverage area. Later, in 2006, he moved to Mexico to take the position of restaurant and bar manager at the Marriott Casa Magna Puerto Vallarta. Two years later, in 2008, he began a new professional challenge on the other side of the world, in Asia, where he served as Food and Beverage Director at the Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa in Thailand. "A great opportunity to learn and appreciate part of the Asian culture".In 2010 he returned to South America, to Brazil, where he was appointed Food & Beverage Director of the JW Marriott Ho tel Rio De Janeiro, and a year later he returned to his native Peru to occupy, likewise, a Food & Beverage directorship, but this time at The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center.In 2014, he again ventured outside Peru, this time to Guam, an island belonging to the United States, in the Western Pacific. There he assumed the position of Hotel Manager of a property belonging to a hospitality company of Thai origin.After three years, he returned to Lima, Peru, and joined the JW Marriott Hotel Lima team as Director of Food and Beverage, where he was later promoted to Director of Operations.Recently, he was appointed General Manager of JW Marriott El Convento Cusco, his first opportunity to hold this position. "I firmly believe in the power of motivation and teamwork, which come from leading by example consistently".Eduardo Ortiz is a business administrator graduated from the Peruvian Institute of Business Administration. He also holds a master's degree in Hospita lity Management from Cornell University in New York, as well as certifications from the same university in Hospitality Marketing, Hotel Revenue Management, New Media Marketing for Hospitality and Leading Customer Focused Teams.In his free time, he enjoys the beach, movies, music, traveling, gastronomy, and spending time with his son. He also has a passion for swimming, which led him in 1989 to be part of the Peruvian National Swimming Team.

Heivel Bedoya has been appointed as Executive Chef at JW Marriott El Convento Cusco

The executive team at JW Marriott El Convento Cusco has appointed Heivel Bedoya as Executive Chef. In his new role, Chef Bedoya is leading daily food and beverage operations, menu conceptualization and staff management, among other duties, while implementing new culinary programming and concepts in line with the latest industry trends.The young Peru native knows his way around the JW Marriott Cusco kitchen, having opened the former 16th century convent turned luxury hotel as Demi Chef in 2012, helping to establish its in-house Qespi Restaurant as one of the highest rated in Cusco. In 2014, he accepted a position at Aqua Restaurant & Lounge in Grand Cayman, where he put a Peruvian twist of local island menus. His passion for native cuisine led him back to Peru, where he took on the role of Kitchen Supervisor at the posh JW Marriott Lima, returning to Cusco as Sous Chef in 2016. Chef Bedoya was highly involved in the transformation of JW Marriott Cusco's culinary program, which has been recognized by Food & Wine Magazine, USA Today and Travel + Leisure, among other key industry publications. As Executive Chef, he also oversees the daily operations of the hotel's onsite Qespi Restaurant and adjacent Qespi Bar. A highly sought after venue for group meetings, events and destination weddings, Chef Bedoya also supervises catering on property and in offsite outdoor locations such as the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Rodrigo Rizzi has joined JW Marriott El Convento Cusco as General Manager

JW Marriott El Convento Cusco announces the appointment of Rodrigo Rizzi to the position of General Manager. Mr. Rizzi arrives in Cusco with 18 years of hotel industry experience, including eight years of luxury experience acquired with The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott brands. A native of Brazil, Mr. Rizzi graduated from the Pontificial Catholic University of São Paulo before completing multiple post-graduate degrees in executive leadership, food and beverage, and restaurant branding at Cornell University. Throughout his career with Marriott, he has become well-versed in a number of the hotel ch ain's dynamic brands, including Marriott Hotels, Fairfield Inn, Renaissance and The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, to name a few. Prior to his new post in Cusco, he held general manager positions at the AC Hotel Panama City, ranked #1 in guest satisfaction across all AC Hotels worldwide, and the JW Marriott Panama.
