Charleston’s Wild Dunes Resort Plans New 153-Room Hotel Expansion to Open in Early 2021

Wild Dunes Resort, A Destination Hotel, is expanded its existing oceanfront meeting destination on the Isle of Palms, just 30 minutes outside of historic downtown Charleston. Opening in early 2021, the highly anticipated project will add a new 153-room hotel bringing the total to 400 guestrooms and suites, in addition to the existing 240 vacation rental homes and condos. The new, multi-faceted meeting and event space includes a grand ballroom with pre-function space and rooftop ballroom and event terrace with 270-degree panoramic ocean views, now allowing the resort to welcome groups of up to 650 attendees.

Former Marketing and Communications Manager, Ivie Parker has been promoted to Director of Marketing at Wild Dunes Resort. Parker has elevated the resort's public relations platform to new heights through implementing new revenue drivers, developing creative campaigns and strong acquisition strategies and serving as Destination Hotel & Resort's Marketing Affinity team- co-chair. A graduate of the College of Charleston, Parker was formerly a partner in her own Interior Design Company, Parker-Sims Interiors, LLC before her move to Wild Dunes Resort in 2010.

Eric Pease has been promoted to Director of Group Sales at Wild Dunes Resort, by Destination Hotels & Resorts

Former Assistant Director of Sales and Chair of the Food and Beverage Affinity Team, Eric Pease has been promoted to Director of Group Sales at Wild Dunes Resort. A consistent mentor for the sales team, Pease was recognized as 2011 Sales Executive of the Year and 2010 Manager of the Year, in addition to holding the record in 2013 for largest booking year by a salesperson in Wild Dunes Resort history. A graduate of Purdue University, Pease formerly worked at Destination Hotel & Resort's The Rizzo Conference Center and the Carolina Inn before his move to Wild Dunes Resort in 2009.

Jody Harris has been promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing at Wild Dunes Resort, by Destination Hotels & Resorts

Former Director of Sales, Jody Harris has been promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing at Wild Dunes Resort. A well-respected leader within Destination Hotels & Resorts, Harris continued to drive the sales at Wild Dunes Resort through coaching, business development and tool utilization. Harris was presented the award for 2013 Sales Leader of the Year, while his team earned 2011 Sales Team of the Year. A graduate of Mississippi State University, Harris was formerly Sales Manager at Vail Cascade before his move to Wild Dunes Resort in 2000.

Frank Fredericks has been promoted to Managing Director at Destination Hotels & Resorts’ Wild Dunes Resort

Fredericks was vice president of sales and marketing at Wild Dunes for five years before being promoted to the top operations position at the property. While overseeing the sales and marketing function he was named one of the “25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales & Marketing” by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International. Before joining the Wild Dunes team, Fredericks worked for the Monarch Hotel in Washington, D.C. before it was sold to Fairmont Hotels and Resorts. At the Monarch, Fredericks was director of sales and marketing for the 415-room property. Fredericks worked for Westin Hotels in a variety of locations including Tampa Bay, Kansas City, San Francisco, Chicago and Denver, before he joined Destination . Fredericks received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Denver and a Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State University.
