Cynthia Boyett has been appointed as Director of Business Development at Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas

Ms. Boyett was most recently with Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, where she held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing. Prior to St. Thomas, Boyett served as Director of Group and Catering Sales at Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. In addition to Mandarin Oriental, Miami, Boyett has served on opening teams for Four Seasons Aviara, Miami and West Lake Village. In her new role, Ms. Boyett will oversee all of Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas Group, Transient and Catering Sales.

Brookfield Asset Management Inc. said Wednesday it had assumed ownership of the financially troubled Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas after closing on a settlement agreement with its borrowers. The settlement agreement transfers a joint venture's equity stake in the Hard Rock Hotel to a fund controlled by Brookfield Asset Management. It also ends Morgans Hotel Group Co.'s management agreement for the property that stands along Paradise Road just east of the Strip.
