The UNWTO High Level Task Force Meeting on Tourism and Security convenes in Madrid

The integration of national security with tourism security, crisis communication and travel advisories were some of the key issues discussed at the 1st Meeting of the High Level Task Force on Tourism and Security, organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) today in Madrid. The event took place ahead of the 105th UNWTO Executive Council meeting to be held in Madrid, home of the UNWTO Headquarters, on 11 and 12 May.

Hyatt Announces Plans For Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid

Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE:H) today announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Exacorp One, S.L. for a 159-room Hyatt Centric hotel in Madrid that is expected to open by Q4 2017. The Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid marks the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Spain.

UNWTO has announced the finalists of the 13th edition of the UNWTO Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Tourism. The 12 finalists were selected among 139 applicants from 55 countries. The winners will be announced on 18 January 2017 at the UNWTO Awards Ceremony, organized for the fourth consecutive year in collaboration with Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR / IFEMA).

Madrid records biggest rise in values as Europe’s hotels see record performance in 2015

Europe's hotel market experienced ongoing value growth and recovery in 2015 with hotels in many cities reaching record performance, according to our 2016 European Hotel Valuation Index (HVI). The year was particularly good for hotels in Eastern Europe, which bounced back from declining values in 2014 to reach a 5% increase that matched the European average for 2015.
