Zachary Felter has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at 1 Hotel South Beach

Zachary Felter brings extensive knowledge of the Miami hospitality market to 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach. Prior to 1 Hotels, he quickly accelerated from national sales manager to director of sales at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel where he managed a team of 11, established new programming that successfully met and surpassed sales goals, and created and executed the hotel’s sales budget and plan, adjusting as necessary to meet goals. Felter began his career as a member of the sales team at the iconic Eden Roc Miami Beach Hotel.

Victor Vazquez has been appointed as VP development and acquisitions Latin America at Starwood Hotels & Resorts

Vazquez will report to Matthew Fry, Senior Vice President, Global Development, and will oversee the company’s aggressive growth strategy in the region. Vazquez, who has relocated to the company’s Miami office, brings more than 20 years of experience, most recently serving as brand standards and global project lead in Singapore for IHG. In that role, he was responsible for shaping and executing the operations strategy for IHG’s Asia, Middle East & Africa (AMEA) division and led the development of hotel operations models and process for new hotel brands, joint ventures and special projects. Prior to that, Vazquez was part of the Global Operations team and Operations Council based out of IHG’s head office in the United Kingdom, and held a variety of positions within the company, including roles in feasibility, development, investment and asset management, brands and operations/finance support. He also served as a General Manager and gained hotel operations and hotel openings experience at city-center, resort and convention properties in the U.S., Argentina and Venezuela. Victor is a CPA who holds a MBA from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

David Casey has been appointed as Area Director of Sales & Marketing at Thompson Miami Beach

Casey joins the Thompson Miami Beach team from Miami Beach luxury resort, The Setai, where he served as executive director of marketing & sales for two years. During his time at The Setai, he led an extensive transition of the sales, marketing and revenue functions to a new management company. Casey also oversaw the opening of the first U.S.-based Expedia CruiseShipCenters retail and host agency franchise for which he remains a franchise co-owner and managing partner. Prior to his arrival in South Florida, Casey worked in the northeast market as vice president of hotel sales and marketing for one of the world’s largest casinos, Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino in Uncasville, Conn. There, Casey managed all hotel marketing and sales initiatives for a $1.4 billion expansion project, and developed and executed a comprehensive pre-opening and opening strategy.

Brett Orlando has been appointed as Area Managing Director at Thompson Miami Beach

Orlando brings more than 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry to Thompson Miami Beach, where he will be general manager. Recognized as a trailblazer in his respective category, Orlando’s bold leadership skills and contagious enthusiasm will drive his team as he oversees the pre-opening phase of the beachfront hotel, as well as general operations post-opening. Prior to joining Thompson Miami Beach, Orlando was general manager at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ EPIC Hotel in downtown Miami and regional director of operations for the group’s southeast region. In this role, he managed more than 500 employees across four hotels and led all operations, strategic marketing and revenue efforts. Before joining Kimpton, Orlando served as managing director at Gansevoort Hotel Miami, where he worked to transition the property out of a foreclosure status while also increasing growth in the leisure business category, ultimately positioning the hotel above its market competitors. At Thompson Miami Beach, Orlando will also draw on his experience from Fontainebleau Miami Beach, the 1,504-room hotel he supported as vice president of operations during their re-launch period from 2007 to 2009, driving nearly $200 million in revenue that translated to more than $26 million in profit during his first year. Orlando also counts tenures as general manager at Hotel Palomar in Washington, D.C., Royalton Hotel, The Maritime Hotel, as well as the SoHo and TriBeCa Grand Hotels in New York City, among his other industry experiences.

John MacMullen has been appointed as Area Director of Sales and Marketing at Benchmark Hospitality International

Dan Normandin has been appointed as General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Miami

Dan Normandin has been appointed General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Miami, effective July 15th. He will be responsible for all operations of the 221-room hotel as well as the office space, condo-hotel program and 186 residential condominium units also housed in the 70-story tower on Miami's Brickell Avenue. Normandin replaces Simon Pettigrew who, after two years of being with Four Seasons Miami, has accepted the position of Vice President of Hotel Operations at The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas.

Doug Kaminski has been appointed as Director of Marketing at Four Seasons Hotel Miami

Douglas Kaminski has been appointed Director of Marketing at Four Seasons Hotel Miami, effective immediately. As head of the Sales & Marketing Department of the 221-room Hotel on Miami’s Brickell Avenue, he’ll be responsible for all aspects of international and domestic group business as well as leisure sales and marketing. Kaminski replaces Tony Rodriguez who has accepted the position of Director of Marketing at Four Seasons Hotel Palm Beach.

Ron Warner has been appointed as Regional Director of Group Sales at Melia Hotels International

Melia Hotels International is pleased to announce the hiring of Ron Warner as Director of Group Sales for their global collection of hotels and resorts, including Gran Melia, Melia, ME by Melia, Paradisus, Innside, Tryp, and Sol. Mr. Warner will be responsible for groups, meetings, incentive sales, and conventions as well as maintaining client relationships for Melia's national accounts. Mr. Warner will be responsible for Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. Mr. Warner has 30 years of experience in the travel industry and has spent the past 12 years specializing in the MICE market. Most recently, he held the position of Director of Operations for Maxvantage where he was responsible for leading a team of meeting managers and sourcing managers in the US and Canada. Prior to that, he was National Manager for the Canadian American Express Platinum card travel service leading a team of travel agents specializing in the luxury sector. Mr. Warner also held the position of National Manager of supplier relations with American Express in the Leisure sector.

Caroline Ball has been appointed as Regional Director of Group Sales at Melia Hotels International

Ms. Ball will be responsible for groups, meetings, incentive sales, and conventions as well as maintaining client relationships for Melia's national accounts. Ms. Ball will be responsible for the regions of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. Ms. Ball has been in the industry since 1993 and spent the last 12 years with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. Since 2003, she served as Director of Worldwide Sales for Hyatt Hotels in the Washington, DC area markets and the Southeast US markets. Working from her home office in Annapolis, MD, she is involved with the sailing community in Annapolis and enjoys boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Bradley A. Weiser has joined Hostmark Development, LLC as Principal

Weiser previously held executive positions as Chairman, President and Founder of The TANGO Group, where he spearheaded creation of the Café Tu Tu Tango concept, and Carnival Hotels and Casinos. Stephane Mercier has been named General Manager at Conrad Miami

Hilton Worldwide announces the appointment of Stephane Mercier, as the general manager of the distinctive 36-story glass tower luxury Conrad Miami in downtown Miami’s financial district. In his new role, Mercier will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the 203 rooms and 103 residence suites hotel, effective immediately. Mercier replaces Martin Wormull who has been promoted to senior director brand performance management, Americas for Hilton Worldwide Luxury brands. Mercier will report directly to Ted Ratcliff, senior vice president, operations, eastern North America, Hilton Worldwide.
