(NASDAQ:MAR) is pleased to announce the opening of Element Santa Clara, the newest hotel in Silicon Valley designed for today's healthy, active traveller who wants to maintain a balanced lifestyle while away from home. Designed by AXIS/GFA Architecture + Design, in partnership with Linda Snyder and Associates, the hotel is ideal for both corporate travellers and leisure guests who are focused on a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Built "green from the ground-up", Element Hotels incorporates sustainable design and eco-friendly practices from the beginning. Matt Humphreys has been appointed as General Manager at Hyatt Regency Santa Clara

Humphreys is succeeding Dania Duke who will be transferring to the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine as General Manager. Most recently General Manager of the Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf, Humphreys has a long history with Hyatt Hotels. Prior to his position at Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf, he was the Senior Executive Assistant Manager of Rooms at Grand Hyatt San Francisco. Humphreys’ began his career with Hyatt in 1993 as a bellman at the Hyatt in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Humphreys gained management experience in other Hyatt hotels in such locales as South Carolina, Southern California, Washington State and Hawaii.

Marianne Milton has been appointed as Associate Director of Sales at Hyatt Regency Santa Clara

Most recently the Director of Sales & Marketing for the Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf, Milton was born and raised in Denmark. After she finished her term with Hoejere Handelseksamen (Higher Business Education), Milton came to the United States in 1987 to travel around the country after a two-year apprenticeship at Lion Ferry A/S, a company specializing in transporting passengers, cars and trucks across the Kattegat Ocean (between Denmark and Sweden). Milton’s original plan was to return to Denmark, but Milton landed a job with Hyatt Hotels 25 years ago, first as a front desk agent, then working her way into sales. Milton has held several management positions for such properties as the Grand Hyatt San Francisco; Hyatt Rickey’s in Palo Alto; and the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport. In order to further round out her experience, Marianne had a brief hiatus from Hyatt Hotels when she went to work for a tradeshow company as a venue planning manager, focusing on selecting venues and negotiating contracts. Marianne resides in San Mateo with her husband and daughter.
