Management agreements have been signed for the 210-room Hyatt Place Shanghai Jiading, the 77-room Hyatt House Shanghai Jiading, and the 150-room Hyatt Place Shanghai Xinjiangwan.
Edmond Ip has been appointed as Chairman, Greater China at Hilton Worldwide
In this newly created role, Ip will act as an adviser to Hilton Worldwide, primarily overseeing all of the company’s operational interests in Greater China, including implementing a new organizational structure, assisting in recruiting best-in-class talent, and aggregating the growth from the numerous hotel openings in the next few years. He will be based between Singapore and Shanghai. Ip brings with him more than 30 years of expertise in the hospitality business. He was most recently non-executive director and chief adviser to the board of the Kosmopolito Hotels International Ltd. Prior to this, he spent more than 10 years with the Intercontinental Hotels Group, where he held several positions, including chief adviser for Asia Pacific. Prior to the Intercontinental Hotels Group, Ip held senior positions in CDL Hotel International and the Thai Wah Group of Companies, including being the co-founder of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts. Ip’s career in hospitality began at Hyatt International Corporation in 1973. During his tenure there, he was based in Indonesia, Singapore, London and the company’s Chicago headquarters. Prior to joining the hospitality industry, Ip was the group chief accountant for Li Po Chin Group of Companies in Hong Kong, and Auditor at the then Price Waterhouse in Hong Kong.

Joseph Chong has been appointed as General Manager at The Peninsula Shanghai
Mr. Joseph Chong joined HSH in 2000 as Director of Rooms at The Peninsula Beijing. In 2005, he was promoted to be Executive Assistant Manager, Rooms and soon after that, he was transferred to The Peninsula Bangkok as Resident Manager. In early 2009, he joined the pre-opening team of The Peninsula Shanghai as Hotel Manager and played an instrumental role in the opening of the hotel in October 2009. From April 2011, he will succeed Mr. Paul Tchen as General Manager of The Peninsula Shanghai.
David Batchelor has been appointed as Managing Director at The Peninsula Shanghai
Mr. David Batchelor joined HSH in 1994 and served as General Manager of The Peninsula Manila from 2001 to 2008. He was General Manager, Operations Planning and Support from 2008 to 2011, based in Hong Kong. On 14 March 2011, he will take on the newly-created position of Managing Director, The Peninsula Shanghai, tasked with overseeing the management of the hotel complex including the shopping arcade, Peninsula Residences and Waitanyuan.

A long-time hospitality industry veteran, including 27 consecutive years in the People’s Republic of China, Roger Fung is the longest-serving Hong Kong expatriate in the country’s hotel industry. During his distinguished career, he has held positions of increasing responsibility with many of the world’s most well-known and respected brands, including Hilton, Regent, Radisson, Hyatt, Peninsula, New World, Marriott, Mandarin and New Asia (rebranded under IHG), as well as a number of independent hotels. He has served in a variety of positions at the property through international levels. He has opened six, five-star hotels in China, as well as taken over management of numerous existing hotels.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation Announces Andaz Shanghai | Opening will mark debut of Andaz brand in Asia
Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today that Andaz Shanghai, the first Andaz hotel in Asia, will open in Shanghai, China in the summer of 2011.
