Dr. Li Miao has been appointed as Executive Editor at Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR)

OSU School of Hospitality and Tourism Management professor Dr. Li Miao has been selected as an executive editor for the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR) by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE). Miao will serve a five-year term beginning in 2021, along with colleagues and co-executive editors Dr. Peter Kim of Auckland University in New Zealand and Dr. Jean-Pierre Van der Rest of Leiden University in the Netherlands. "The Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research is one of the leading journals in our academic discipline, and we are extremely proud of Dr. Miao's professional achievement," said Dr. Brij Thapa, head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. "This is not only a big honor and privilege for her to serve but is also significant for our HTM program as it offers a global spotlight for recognition of our research enterprise. I am confident her team will serve effectively and further enhance the research reputation of the journal." Miao is looking forward to her tenure as an editor for the publication. "The Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research is close to my heart," she said. "I published my very first research paper in this journal when I was a doctoral student 20 years ago. I am privileged to lead JHTR and through this platform, to continue the work in advancing research and scholarship in the field of hospitality and tourism management. I am also proud to play a small part in our collective effort to continue to raise the visibility of the HTM program at OSU. The institutional support I get as an HTM faculty has been incredible."

Ben Goh has been appointed as Assistant Dean and Director at The School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration at Oklahoma State University

Goh is joining OSU from Texas Tech University where he is a professor in restaurant, hotel and institutional management and has more than 20 years in academic administration. He has served as associate dean of the College of Human Sciences and as associate department chair for the department of nutrition, hospitality and retailing from 1992 – 2001. During that time, he led the establishment of the doctoral program in hospitality administration.

David W. Davis has been appointed as General Manager at Atherton Hotel and Ranchers Club

Davis earned a bachelor’s degree in restaurant, hotel and institutional management from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Houston. He is pursuing a doctoral degree at OSU with research emphasis on revenue and sales management. In addition to his role as general manager, Davis is responsible for teaching and overseeing students in two HRAD laboratories – The Atherton and The Ranchers Club. School of Hotel and Restaurant Administrator Director Bill Ryan said he is pleased Davis has taken on the responsibility of general manager. Before coming to OSU, Davis worked for John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts. He served as the general manager of the Hampton Inn & Suites in Springdale, Ark., the front office manager of the Coral Springs Marriott Hotel in Coral Springs, Fla., and the director of revenue management and sales manager at the Radisson Hotel in Houston. In 2006, Davis received the Hilton Corporate award nomination for Global Sales Partner of the Year for his work with Tyson foods, and he earned the Marriott International Conversion of the Year award for his part in the Coral Springs hotel’s conversion l from a Radisson to a Marriott in 2002.
