Leanne Harwood has been appointed as Managing Director, Australasia and Japan at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) today announces the appointment of Leanne Harwood to the role of Managing Director, Australasia and Japan. She will be replacing Karin Sheppard, who moves to London to take on the new position as IHG’s Managing Director, Europe. Leanne is one of IHG’s Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA) senior leaders and will be responsible for the operations, growth and performance of more than 70 hotels in the Australasia and Japan Business Unit. In her role as Managing Director she will oversee the regional teams in Sydney and Tokyo as they continue their growth momentum in Australasia and prepare for the 2019 Rugby World Cup and 2020 Olympics in Japan.

Jane Lyons has been appointed as General Manager at West Hotel Sydney, Curio Collection by Hilton

Hilton has announced Jane Lyons as General Manager for West Hotel Sydney, the first Curio Collection by Hilton™ Hotel in Australia. The 182-room new-build hotel located at 65 Sussex St is expected to open in December 2017 and will be managed by Hilton on behalf of M&L Hospitality. Jane returns to her home country of Australia following an eight-year hotel management career overseas; working for Langham Hotels & Resorts at their London and New York properties. Most recently, Jane was Hotel Manager for The Langham, London, a 380-room hotel located in Regent Street. She commenced the role in August 2016 and was responsible for operations across rooms, food & beverage, security, spa and engineering.

Jeroen Meijer has been appointed as Hotel Manager at PARKROYAL Darling Harbour

Jeroen joins the award-winning PARKROYAL property after a highly successful career spanning almost two-decades at Hilton Hotels both here in Australia and abroad. Born and educated in the Netherlands, he attended the prestigious CHN University in Leeuwarden before undertaking a variety of sales and commercial roles at various Hilton properties throughout the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.

Marty Lamont has been appointed as General Manager at ibis Budget NSW/ACT

Marty Lamont has been appointed Cluster General Manager, ibis Budget NSW/ACT. Marty joined AccorHotels in June 2008 when he was accepted as a Graduate Management Trainee for ibis Wellington. Since February 2011, Marty has worked across various Front Office roles throughout New Zealand, Scotland and Australia before accepting his most recent position as Rooms Division Manager at ibis Sydney Darling Harbour in March 2015.

Mantra Hotel at Sydney Airport officially opened!

The new Mantra Hotel at Sydney Airport was officially opened today (19 July) by New South Wales Minister for Tourism and Major Events, the Honourable Adam Marshall MP, to help serve the 42 million passengers who travel through Sydney Airport each year, as well the thousands of visitors and staff who visit the airport precinct daily.

Richard Crawford has been appointed as Senior Director, Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific at Marriott International

In order to achieve its impressive development target of 50 hotels for the region, Marriott International has appointed Richard Crawford to the role of Senior Director, Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific. Previously the Development Manager – Acquisitions for Mantra Group, Richard has a strong background in commerce and tourism and will be integral to leading and expanding the company’s development plans in the Australia Pacific region, particularly in key markets where Marriott International is currently not represented. Richard will be supported in Australia by Maria Verner, formerly with Starwood’s Pacific Development and Acquisitions team and recently promoted to the role of Manager, Development for Marriott International.

Florencia Aimo has been promoted to Area Director of Marketing at Marriott International

Florencia Aimo has been promoted from Director of Digital Marketing for Marriott Australia to Area Director of Marketing. Aimo has been tasked with the responsibility of delivering marketing initiatives to increase brand awareness and drive brand preference.

Ashley Hansen has been appointed as Area Director of Sales & Distribution at Marriott International

Ashley Hansen, previously Regional Director for Sales & Marketing and Sales Organisation in the Pacific, has been appointed to Area Director of Sales & Distribution and will oversee Marriott International’s sales operation in the region.

Sean Hunt has been appointed as Area Vice President Australia, New Zealand and Pacific at Marriott International

Based at Marriott International’s Sydney head office at Sheraton on the Park, Sydney, the team is led by Sean Hunt, Area Vice President Australia, New Zealand and Pacific. Reporting to Rajeev Menon, Chief Operating Officer, Marriott International, APEC (Asia Pacific excluding Greater China), Hunt will oversee and drive the operations and financial performance of the property portfolio.

Sam Panetta has been appointed as General Manager at Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour

Sam Panetta has been appointed General Manager, Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour. Sam joined AccorHotels in 2007 as Operations Manager for Accor’s Sydney Olympic Park Hotels and was part of the opening team of Australia’s first Pullman Hotel. In 2010, he moved on to Sofitel Sydney Wentworth as Executive Assistant Manager and was promoted to Hotel Manager in 2012. Sam was also awarded the AAA Property Manager of the Year in 2012. He was most recently General Manager of Pullman Magenta Shores resort for 2.5 years since 2014. He has also held positions as Director on the Golf Board for the resort and as a Chairman of Central Coast Tourism Board.

Simon Barnett has been appointed as Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

A highly skilled and personable hotelier, Melbourne-born Mr Barnett has taken the reigns from his previous role as Director of Marketing at Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, marking the third promotion in his six years at the property. Mr Barnett brings more than 25 years’ experience in hospitality to the role, working for top hotel groups in Australia and across the globe including Hilton Hotels and Jumeriah Hotels & Resorts in London and New York.
