Jennifer Curtin has been promoted to general manager of the Homewood Suites Tampa/Brandon in Tampa, Fla. Previously, Curtin was the dual assistant general manager at the Hampton Inn/Hilton Garden Inn West Palm Beach. She began her career with White Lodging in 2010 as a banquet server at the Radisson Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Ind. where she took part in task-forcing at different properties including Brush Creek Ranch in Saratoga, Wyo. for two and a half months. In 2012, Curtin became operations supervisor at the Courtyard by Marriott in Hammond, Ind. and later that year was promoted to assistant general manager at the same property before assuming her dual AGM role in West Palm Beach.

Jennifer Hand has been appointed as General Manager at Aloft Tampa Downtown

Liberty Group has named Jennifer Hand general manager of the upcoming Aloft hotel. The 130-room Aloft hotel, under construction at the Mercantile Bank building, is now scheduled to open July 3, said Punit Shah, Liberty Group’s president and chief operating officer. Hand most recently was senior sales manager of the Wyndham Tampa Westshore. That hotel has since changed flags and become the Holiday Inn Tampa Westshore.

Nabil Salloum has been appointed as General Manager at Hilton Tampa Downtown

Driftwood Hospitality Management today announced the appointments of new general managers at three of the company’s Hilton Worldwide properties. Nabil Salloum, a trilingual operations executive with expertise in turning around underperforming properties and opening new hotels in metropolitan markets joins Driftwood at their most recently acquired hotel, the 521-room Hilton Tampa Downtown. With over 28 years in the hospitality industry Salloum has proven his ability to develop teams to outperform previous highs in service and guest satisfaction while streamlining operations to increase profit margins. Salloum previously was general manager of the Renaissance Plantation Hotel in Plantation, Fla. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Louisville and University of Phoenix.

Tom Haines has been appointed as General Manager at Epicurean Hotel (a Autograph Collection® Hotel)

The Epicurean Hotel announced today the appointment of Tom Haines as the General Manager of the 137-room boutique hotel scheduled to open in November 2013. With nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Haines comes to the Epicurean from the Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando, where he worked for nine years. Most recently, he was the Executive Assistant Manager at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, where he worked with the General Manager to direct daily operations at the 750-room resort. While at Loews, Haines held a variety of positions, including Director of Food and Beverage and Director of Conference Management. He began his 20 year career with Hyatt Hotels at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, where he spent four years in various food and beverage positions. He then moved to Tampa to work at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay and the Hyatt Regency Tampa.

Rob Kennehan has been appointed as General Manager at the Embassy Suites Tampa Brandon

Kennehan started his new role at the beginning of the month, leaving his position of general manager at the Hilton Garden Inn Silver Springs. Kennehan has been in the hospitality business for more than 10 years, working in roles such as Assistant Front Office Manager and Sales Manager, and has served as general manager at three hotels prior to his role at the Embassy Suites.

Todd Kinney has been promoted to General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Airport Westshore

A graduate of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, Todd Kinney started his career with McKibbon Hotel Management in 1997 as General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2008, he was named opening General Manager of the Homewood Suites Tampa Airport-Westshore, which was selected by Hilton as Top New Hotel of the Year in 2009. Todd was recognized by HotelWorld Network in 2010 as General Manager of the Year, and brings a high degree of leadership to the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Airport Westshore.

Michael Nealon has been appointed as General Manager at Homewood Suites Tampa Airport-Westshore

Michael Nealon holds a Bachelors Degree in Communications/Hospitality Management from Bowling Green State University. Mike joined the McKibbon team in 2006 as Director of Sales for the Residence Inn Tampa Westshore, and was awarded Direct Sales Leader of the Year by Marriott International for his work with the Residence Inn Tampa Westshore in 2007. In 2008, he was promoted to the position of Market Director of Sales for the entire Westshore market when Avion Park’s three new hotels were developed. Prior to joining McKibbon, Mike worked for four years with Innkeepers Hospitality and Blackstone Hotel Group. His extensive sales experience will benefit the entire cluster, as Michael Nealon will serve as the lead sales general manager for the market.

Matthew Jones has joined McKibbon Hotel Management, Inc. as Director of Sales for Tampa Downtown Hotels

McKibbon Hotel Management, Inc., based in Tampa, Florida, announced that Matthew Jones has been selected to join the company’s sales and marketing team as Director of Sales for the company’s two downtown Tampa hotels, the Courtyard by Marriott® Tampa Downtown and the Residence Inn by Marriott® Tampa Downtown. Matthew is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, and he began his career in the hospitality industry with Marriott International in 1987, working in a variety of operations and sales positions. He worked as Area Director of Sales with Blackstone in Cincinnati, Ohio, earning the title of Area Director of the Year in 2004. In 2006, Jones relocated to Florida, and served as Director of GroupSales for the Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater. Most recently, he worked with GF Management in Philadelphia, PA as Regional Director/Vice President of Sales.

Carlson Hotels announced today that the new 65-room Country Inn & Suites By CarlsonSM, Tampa Airport Northis open for business. The opening supports Country Inns & Suites By Carlson’s plan to add another 250 hotels in key target markets including the United States, Canada, Mexico and India over the next five years as part of Carlson’s Ambition 2015 global growth strategy.
