Hakan Ozel has appointed been appointed general manager of the Shangri-La Hotel Tianjin, which is due to open this summer. Ozel has 20 years of hospitality experience and has been with Shangri-La for more than eight years. Prior to this appointment he was resident manager at Shangri-La Beijing.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced the opening of Hyatt Regency Tianjin East in the northern Chinese coastal city of Tianjin, neighboring Beijing. The opening marks the return of the Hyatt Regency brand to Tianjin; 28 years after making history in China.

Through intensive operational as well as sales & marketing efforts, Reinhold successfully drove both resorts from their pre-opening stages to become full-fledged hotel destinations backed by a well-trained local workforce. Prior to that, Reinhold was instrumental in the openings of Banyan Tree Bali and Banyan Tree Hangzhou where as General Manager, he competently organised the various operations, human resources and marketing functions at each property to achieve robust performance within the respective highly competitive markets. During his illustrious career, Reinhold has also helmed Banyan Tree, Moevenpick and Iberotel hotels and resorts in Seychelles, Yemen, Kuwait, Egypt, Kenya and Prague. He started out in the hospitality industry from the Food & Beverage sector, amassing over a decade of solid credentials with leading hotels, cruise liners and restaurants.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Cunningham was the General Manager for The Westin Hefei Baohe Hotel since 2010, where he oversaw the entire pre-opening process and gained the leading position in that new market within 7 months of hotel opening. Before that, Mr. Cunningham was the Hotel Manager for The Westin Beijing Financial Street Hotel. During his ten-year tenure in Starwood, he also made other great contribution at The St. Regis Beijing and The W Seoul Walkerhil before. As a savvy hotelier of rich experience with luxury hotel brands in Starwood, Mr. Cunningham is leading The St. Regis Tianjin to deliver the brand promise of offering its elite clientele an experience beyond expectation.
Marriott International plans to open its third stylish Renaissance-branded hotel and first upscale Marriott Executive Apartments property for extended stay travelers in Tianjin, China later this year, under a management agreement with Tianjin Tianbin Real Estate Development Co., Ltd.
Raffles Tianjin is scheduled to open in February 2010 and will be the city’s first penthouse hotel.
