In Focus: Udaipur – An Oasis of Potential

Located in the Girwa valley, amidst the desert of Rajasthan, stands the city of Udaipur. The once capital of the mighty Mewar Kingdom, Udaipur is now one of the most sought after leisure destinations India has to offer. Aptly known as the "City of Lakes", the scenic Lake Pichola and Fateh Sagar Lake are centres of most of the leisure activity in the city. Abhishek Sahai has been named General Manager at The Leela Palace Udaipur

He brings with him over 14 years of experience in core hotel operations and has worked at senior positions at The Oberoi and The Leela. Prior to joining The Leela Palace Udaipur, Abhishek was Rooms Division Manager at The Leela Mumbai. Abhishek first joined The Leela family in 2010 as Executive Assistant to the President and Front Office Manager of The Leela Mumbai before progressing to Rooms Division Manager of The Leela Palace Chennai. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in finalizing the hotels’ positioning in Chennai along with setting up the Rooms Division of the property and hiring and training 250 team members. Prior to this stint, he led teams in various operational capacities at The Leela Mumbai, and The Oberoi, New Delhi, where he began his hospitality career.

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts announces the Sheraton Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts continues its expansion momentum in Asia Pacific, announcing an agreement with Rockwood Hotels & Resorts Ltd. to debut the Sheraton brand in the city of lakes, Udaipur in India (voted Best City in the World in the Travel + Leisure USA World's Best 2009 Awards). The Rockwood Palace Resort and Spa has been re-branded as Sheraton Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa from 1st August, 2010, and is managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts, with another five Sheraton hotels to open in India over the next three years in Bengaluru, Visakhapatnam, Chandigarh, Mysore and Amritsar.
