Radisson expands Caribbean presence with opening of Barbados resort

Radisson, one of the world's best-recognized hotel brands, today announced the opening of the Radisson Aquatica Resort Barbados, set on picturesque Carlisle Bay. The beachfront resort, which recently completed an $8 million renovation, offers 124-rooms including five Pier Suites and one Presidential Suite. This unique property is located in a marine reserve and features a historic Victorian Pier that is 200 feet long and recently declared a United Nations World Heritage site.

Joanna Roterberg has been named General Manager at The House

On Oct. 6, 2012, The House, one of Barbados' premier West Coast hotels, will unveil its new look following an extensive five-month refurbishment. The boutique, adults-only, 34-suite hotel will showcase contemporary interior designs, as well as fabulous new room décor complete with local handcrafted Bajan artwork. Before the reopening, Elegant Hotels Group announced the appointment of Joanna Roterberg as the new general manager of The House. With 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Joanna has gained an extensive understanding of the luxury hotel sector, having previously held a number of senior positions in exclusive hotels around Barbados, including Sandy Lane Hotel.

Jason Patterson has been named General Manager at Treasure Beach Hotel

Formerly General Manager of Pink Beach Club in Bermuda, Patterson brings a wealth of experience managing high-end hotels across the region. With particular proficiency in leading a successful team and increasing hotel brand awareness Patterson is renowned for his unwavering commitment to his guests by constantly seeking ways to enhance their holiday experience. Prior to his time at Pink Beach Club, Patterson held positions at Cambridge Beaches Resort, Bermuda, Millennium Hotel Abu Dhabi and the Four Seasons Maldives Kuda Huraa. Patterson commented, “I’m thrilled to be joining Treasure Beach Hotel and I’m looking forward to working with the team to enhance the hotel’s excellent reputation and make it the must-visit Barbados hotspot.” Treasure Beach Hotel is home to 35 luxurious guestrooms, each individually designed, several complete with private plunge pools and panoramic views across the Caribbean Sea. Forming a crescent around the hotel’s freshwater pool and tropical gardens, the suites are spacious, stylish and provide the top-end luxury that is synonymous with Barbados.

Vanessa Williams has been appointed as Executive Assistant Manager/Sales, Marketing and Hotel Operations at Sandy Lane

In her role Williams will report directly to Mr. Logan. She will be responsible for the global management of sales, marketing and public relations on behalf of the resort and also actively involved in the day to day operations of Sandy Lane. A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Williams joins Sandy Lane with more than 20 years of experience in the hotels and hospitality industry. Prior to her appointment at Sandy Lane, she was Hotel Manager/EAM Sales & Marketing at Raffles L’Ermitage in Beverly Hills, California where she oversaw the day to day operations along with leading the sales and marketing efforts of the 119-room, Mobil Five Star and AAA Five Diamond hotel. Previously, Williams served as Director of Marketing at the Intercontinental Hong Kong and Director of Sales and Marketing at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, where she took a lead role in the successful renovation and re-launch of the flagship property. She has also held positions with Nikko Hotels in the USA and Asia Pacific.

Chris Forbes has been appointed as Director of Hotel Operations at Almond Resorts

Forbes brings more than two decades of national and international senior-management level experience to Almond Resorts. Most recently, he transitioned roles as the director of operations from Almond Beach Village to Almond Casuarina Beach Resort. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Forbes boasts an extensive background in hotel management, having held key positions at all-inclusive resorts in North America, South America and the Caribbean. Almond Resorts, set among tropical gardens, pristine beaches, secluded coves, private bays and panoramic views in Barbados and St. Lucia, boasts five all-inclusive resorts. Almond Beach Club & Spa (161 rooms), Almond Beach Village (400 rooms) and Almond Casuarina Beach Resort (289 rooms) are located on the island of Barbados and Almond Morgan Bay Beach Resort (340 rooms) and Almond Smugglers Cove (357rooms) are located on St. Lucia.

Ileana Rousseau has been appointed as Group Development Manager U.S. & Canada at Almond Resorts

Rousseau brings with her a vast knowledge of the travel and tourism industry after working for more than 25 years in various leadership roles at hotels, resorts and cruise lines. Certain to immediately enhance the Almond brand, Rousseau served, most recently, as director of sales and marketing at Karisma Hotels and Resorts in Miami. Before that Rousseau was director of sales at St. Kitts Marriott Resort and the Royal Beach Casino, executive director for Cable Beach Resort Association and director of sales & marketing at Paradise Island Tourism Association. Additionally, she directed the corporate and incentive sales and marketing efforts of the Harbor Beach Marriott & Spa and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
