Richard Chen has been appointed as General Manager at Swiss-Belhotel Hualun

A fluent speaker of Mandarin, Mr. Chen is an MBA in Hotel Management from Griffith University, Australia. Mr. Chen has participated in a number of training programmes in Hong Kong and Singapore, including Resident Manager Development, Corporate Finance Management, Corporate Rooms and Food & Beverage Management, and Resident Manager Orientation. During his more than 20 year career in the hospitality industry, Mr. Chen has held the position of General Manager and other senior management positions at hotels in Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Taizhou, Zhongshan and Shanghai in China, and also in Adelaide and Queensland, Australia.

Kenneth Macpherson has been appointed as Chief Executive, Greater China at IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group)

IHG is pleased to announce that Kenneth Macpherson will be taking over from Keith as Chief Executive, Greater China. Kenneth joins us from Diageo, where he is currently General Manager and Board Director of Sichuan Shuijingfang Company Ltd, a RMB 9.4 billion company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange as Sichuan Swellfun Company Ltd. Kenneth has been based in China since 2005, having previously led the development of Diageo’s China strategy. He will assume his role with IHG in April, 2013, and will also become a member of the Executive Committee reporting to Chief Executive, Richard Solomons. Since 2000, Kenneth has held senior management roles of progressive responsibility with Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks business. From his role as General Manager, Diageo Indian Ocean spirits based in La Reunion, France, through to his current position as General Manager and Board Director of Shuijingfang, Diageo's joint-venture partner in China, based in Chengdu. During his career with Diageo, Kenneth has also worked in Shanghai, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.

Christopher Clark has been appointed as General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has appointed Mr Christopher Clark as General Manager of the soon-to-open Ritz-Carlton Chengdu. Mr Clark leaves his role as General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Seoul to join the Ritz-Carlton Chengdu, a role which will include overseeing the hotel’s opening this year. Mr Clark has been involved in the opening of several other Ritz-Carlton hotels in cities including Istanbul, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Pudong and Hong Kong. US-born Mr Clark began his Ritz-Carlton career in 1997 with his appointment of Director of the Front Office at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr Clark continued his career at the Ritz-Carlton in a variety of positions and properties including Ritz-Carlton hotels Kuala Lumpur, Bali Resort & Spa, St. Thomas, Sanya, Tokyo and the Ritz-Carlton Seoul. The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu is the company’s 10th property in China and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2013.
