Paris outraged! But Paris is liberated!

Every cloud has a silver lining... and this has proved true once again after the ordeals experienced in Paris twice this year. With a sigh of relief, the city of light felt the immense space it holds in the hearts of its citizens and the world in general and tourists in particular. The wave of solidarity, testimonials of support and humanist reactions from around the world somehow smooth over the bad reputation France has often been had to bear. For many, the attack France, was an attack on a symbol that goes well beyond its own borders and deserves to have all positive energies rise up against a new form of inhumanity.

French Railway Cancels Airbnb Partnership After Backlash | HotelsMag.com

France’s state railway cancelled a partnership with Airbnb on Tuesday after complaints by the country’s hotel industry, which has been hit hard in the days after the Paris terrorist attacks. French travelers booking tickets online through the Voyages-SNCF.com website, an online ticket seller and subsidiary of the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français (SNCF), received a follow-up email touting Airbnb and offering a free return ticket if they booked guests – at least they did until Tuesday, when the campaign ended after hoteliers complained, according to France 24 news service.

French Hotel Industry Performance - October 2015

As the months go by, the pattern observed thus far is becoming stronger. Although year-to-date performances at the end of October were more or less balanced, October marked a strong decline in almost all categories, compared (true) to a good October 2014. The sharp drop in Ile-de-France hotel performances was decidedly the most striking feature and dragged down average performance in France as a whole.

Parisian hotels will bounce back, experts say | HotelNewsNow.com

Industry observers expect the Parisian hotel industry to bounce back following terrorist attacks on 13 November at six locations in the city, which so far have resulted in 129 deaths, according to reports. But sources said it might take longer after this incident than it did for previous ones. Gwenola Donet, director of the hotels and hospitality group, France, for business consultancy JLL, said this latest incident is “something different.”

Hilton Paris Opera is First Hotel in European Continent to Recycle Discarded Soap through Clean the World

In celebration of Global Handwashing Day Hilton Worldwide (NYSE:HLT) and Clean the World today announced that Hilton Paris Opera is the first ever hotel in continental Europe to partner with Clean the World. Hilton Paris Opera will lead the European roll-out of Clean the World by contributing discarded soap and bottled amenities that will be recycled to benefit European citizens who are at risk for hygiene-related illnesses. As the world's largest soap recycler, Clean the World has contributed to a 30 percent reduction in pre-adolescent deaths from hygiene-related illnesses since 2009. Hilton signed a master agreement with Clean the World earlier this year making it the organization's largest hotel partner.

French Hotel Industry Performance, August 2015

After two months of recovery, August showed mixed results depending on category and location. While "intermediary" categories (Midscale, Upscale) resisted well thanks to higher average rates, Superbudget hotels confirmed declines in RevPAR. For higher-end hotels, August's results varied from region to region, resulting in an overall drop in occupancy and rates. Despite all this, August's results must be put in perspective when compared with August 2014 – a particularly good month – and year-to-date growth, which remains positive.
