Hilton today announces the opening of Hilton Guatemala City, the brand's first property in Guatemala and a welcomed addition to Hilton's expanding portfolio in Central America. Strategically located near the historic heart of downtown, the 130-room neo-colonial-style hotel boasts an outdoor swimming pool, two whirlpools, lush gardens surrounding the guestrooms, restaurant and more than 4,000 square feet of event space.

The Family Coppola Hideaways is thrilled to unveil its brand new funicular at La Lancha, the lakeside retreat in Guatemala. Ascending from the shores of Lago Peten Itza through the jungle canopy to the hotel's lobby and restaurant, the "jungle elevator" provides a unique welcome experience for guests. As they are transported up the mountainside, they will be met with breathtaking views of Lago Peten Itza and the lush surrounding vegetation of the Guatemalan countryside. Available to any guest arriving by boat, the funicular can accommodate four people at a time.

Yonatan Gomez has been appointed as Executive Chef at Casa Palopó

The award-winning Casa Palopó, a luxury boutique hotel overlooking Guatemala's Lake Atitlán, welcomes Yonatan Gomez as Executive Chef. In his role, Chef Gomez will beresponsible for leading daily food and beverage operations, menu conceptualization, and implementing new culinary programming and concepts, at Guatemala's first and only Relais & Chateaux property. A native of Guatemala, where he attended and graduated culinary school, Chef Gomez spent yearstraining abroad in renowned culinary destinations including Poland, Peru and Spain, completing an internship in Martin Berasategui's Lasarte Oria restaurant, a recipient of three Michelin stars. He most recently helmed the kitchen at Guatemala City's Gracia Cocina de Autor restaurant. His local and international experience comes full circle at Casa Palopó, where he will apply globally acquired techniques while maintaining the integrity of typical Guatemalan ingredients and cuisine at the hotel's 6.8 Palopó restaurant. Chef Gomez arrives during a pivotal moment in Casa Palopó's history, with the property scheduled to unveil an expansion this spring. In addition to six brand new rooms and suites, which will take the total room count from nine to 15, the hotel will unveil a new spa and wellness area.

First Hyatt Centric hotel in Central America opens in Guatemala City
