Sebastien Carre has been appointed as General Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Westcliff

Four Seasons veteran Sebastien Carre has been appointed General Manager and will assume the position August 1, 2013 to begin preparations to re-open the property as Four Seasons Hotel Westcliff Johannesburg. A native of Lyon, France, Carre's ten-year career with Four Seasons began in Washington, where he was Hotel Manager, and in 2006 he was appointed opening General Manager for Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora. His most recent position, as General Manager at the company's Red Sea resort at Sharm El Sheikh, was his second tour of duty in Africa, having previously worked at a resort in Mauritius.

Mark Sawkins has been appointed as General Manager at Fairmont Zimbali Lodge and Fairmont Zimbali Resort

Sun International Hotels & Resorts to Open Landmark Property in Johannesburg

In December 2012 Sun International Hotels & Resorts will open the company's first hotel in Johannesburg. The Grayston is located in the heart of Sandton, Johannesburg's financial district near the Stock Exchange. It will be ideal for business travelers due to its location, its conference facilities, business service amenities and significant landscaped gardens that surround the hotel. After a complete $US 48 million remodeling of an existing hotel structure, the 4* deluxe hotel will offer 267 rooms with complimentary WiFi access.

The Recreation Africa Group has appointed Peter van Raaij to the position of general manager at Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre and Spa. Van Raaij has had 25 years of extensive service within the hospitality industry, both locally and internationally. He is a seasoned hotelier with experience gained from the Hilton Group, Grand Leisure Group (both United Kingdom), Gloria Resorts (China) and in Africa with Protea Hotels, the Three Cities Group, Thornberry Africa and Sun International.

Cooper takes on responsibility for IHG’s expansion in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to moving to Africa, Cooper spent five years with IHG in Moscow where he had responsibility for growth across Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. During this period, IHG signed 15 hotels including five in St Petersburg, and the largest Holiday Inn hotel in the world, with 1,000 rooms, due to open in 2014 in the Crocus City development in Moscow. Cooper originally joined IHG in 1998.
