Joerg Hontheim has been appointed as Area Director of Food and Beverage at Outrigger Surin Beach Resort

Mr Joerg Hontheim will take the role of Area Director of Food and Beverage, Thailand, based in Phuket. A German national, Hontheim is a Certified Master Chef. He holds a bachelor's degree in hospitality and various certifications, including revenue management from Cornell University. He has held various positions with Marriott, Ritz Carlton, Renaissance and Grand Hyatt throughout Asia and the United States.

Claude Sauter has been appointed as General Manager at The Slate

The Slate, the whimsical, art-inspired beachfront resort on Phuket's secluded northwest coast, has announced the appointment of Claude Sauter as its new General Manager, bringing an unrivalled depth of local knowledge, industry acumen and leadership experience to this key role. A Swiss national, Claude is a life-long hospitality professional with proven track record. He has also enjoyed a richly rewarding 24-year relationship with Phuket - and with Thailand as a whole. Having first arrived in the "Pearl of the Andaman" in 1997, as Resident Manager of Impiana Resort Patong, Claude went on to manage some of the island's top hotels and resorts. He is also proficient in Thai, one of six languages he can speak along with French, English, German, Italian and Spanish. A graduate of Ecole Hôtelière de Genève, the prestigious Swiss hotel school, and Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, Claude is clearly highly-qualified. But it is his time in Phuket that has defined his life and career. Following five successful years with Impiana, Claude achieved his first general manager's role with Cape & Kantary Hotels, leading the famous Cape Panwa Hotel in southeast Phuket. He has since headed-up several major properties in Phuket and neighbouring Phang Nga province for international hotel groups including Wyndham and Marco Polo. Most recently, he was GM of The Surin Phuket for over six years, making it one of the island's best performing hotels.

Gun Srisompong has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer at Central Plaza Hotel PLC (CENTEL)

Centara Hotels & Resorts, Thailand's leading hotel operator, has announced the promotion of Gun Srisompong, the group's existing Assistant Vice President of Finance and Asset Management, to Chief Financial Officer of parent company Central Plaza Hotel PLC (CENTEL). In his new role at CENTEL, Gun will oversee all finance, accounting, investment, and investor relations matters of the Stock Exchange of Thailand-listed company and its subsidiaries. Gun first joined Centara Hotels & Resorts in 2014, and during his tenure, he was in charge of corporate finance, asset management, and investor relations for the hotel group. His focus on capital structure optimisation, investment and fundraising was instrumental in the strategic expansion of Centara's portfolio in both domestic and international destinations.

The Standard’s first hotel in Thailand, will open in December

Adam Boulton has been appointed as General Manager at Travelodge Phuket Town, Thailand

Adam has spent over 10 years in the hospitality field working in General Manager and leadership positions, including 2 Pre-Opening General Manager roles for 2 different properties here in Thailand. He has also developed the branding and rebranding of properties and worked to integrate them into marketing strategies and each organization's culture. Prior to joining Absolute Hotel Services, Adam was the General Manager and Juristic Manager at Horizon Residence Koh Samui where he upgraded the residences in p reparation for the return of international tourism. He is fluent in both English and Thai.

Christiane Jane Soergel has been appointed as General Manager at U Samui

Christiane Jane Soergel's knowledge of Samui and the Bangrak beach area make her a perfect fit for the General Manager position at U Samui, Thailand. Jane has more than 10 years of experience in the Koh Samui hospitality industry, beginning her career in 2008 as a Hotel Operations Manager at Samui Paradise Chaweng Beach Resort and Spa. In 2011, she started her role as a Sales and Marketing Manager for Villa Nalinnadda Boutique Hotel, Koh Samui, before becoming the General Manager of the Royal Beach Boutique Resort & Spa, Koh Samui in 2014.Jane continued to grow her leadership experience by becoming the General Manager of Cape Fahn Hotel, located on a private island of Koh Samui, where she focused on delivering high standards and a personalised customer experience. Her latest position before joining the U Samui team was as the Executive Director of Kaizen Hospitality Management, which she began working for in August 2019.
