Novotel Phuket Phokeethra has appointed Sumontha Urvois in the role of executive assistant manager. Most recently, she held the position of executive assistant manager at Grand Mercure Phuket Patong. Urvois has been with AccorHotels for the past 16 years, working in various capacities across its hotels including Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, Novotel Ipswich and Sofitel Hua Hin.

Nicolas Auger has been appointed as Director of Sales And Marketing at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok

Nicolas joins the hotel with over 22 years of hospitality experience and extensive knowledge of the luxury market. Nicolas comes to Bangkok from Washington D.C. where he supported the 14 Marriott hotels of Paris as US based – Multi-properties Director of Sales. Prior to the US experience, he served 5 years as the Market Director of Sales in Paris and 2 years as Dual Property Director of Sales and Marketing for 2 Courtyard hotels in Paris. Other experiences include Starwood Hotels and Hilton Hotels in Paris, Preferred Hotel Group in Milan or The Waldorf Towers in New York City.

Paul Stevens has been appointed as CEO at Accor Plus

Paul Stevens has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Accor Plus, AccorHotels’ travel, dining and lifestyle program. Paul joined AccorHotels in Australia in 1997, holding several General Manager positions before leaving the group in 2004 to pursue other interests in the residential property market.In 2005, he rejoined the group as opening General Manager of Sofitel Fiji before moving to Bangkok in 2007 to lead the Hotel Operations for the group’s Thailand hotels. From 2014, Paul assumed his most recent role of Vice President Operations for the Midscale & Economy brands, Upper Southeast Asia.

Daniel Steinke has been named Cluster GM at AKARYN Hotel Group (AHG)

AKARYN Hotel Group (AHG) has appointed Daniel Steinke as cluster general manager for the group’s two beachfront properties in Phuket and Phang Nga – the Aleenta Phuket Resort & Spa and the akyra Beach Club Phuket. During his 25 years in hotel management, Mr Steinke has held numerous executive positions in Asia, Europe and most recently Russia, opening and managing a cluster of hotels for IHG (Holiday Inn) and as Managing Director of InterContinental Hotel in Prague. Prior to this, Mr Steinke opened and ran operations for Shangri-la, Mandarin Oriental, Kempinski and InterContinental hotels in China, Indonesia, Germany, and Russia.

Kevin Wallace has been promoted to Managing Director, Asia Pacific at Dream Hotel Group Asia

Kevin Wallace has been appointed the managing director of Dream Hotel Group Asia to lead the company's growth in Asia-Pacific. In his new role, Wallace will build on the addition of Dream Phuket launched since early last year along with six further properties in Vietnam and two in the Maldives, plus another 40 hotels set to open in the region over the next four years. With over 30 years of senior leadership experience in the global hotel and cruise industries, Wallace's previous roles included positions such as managing director of Plateno Group for South-east Asia and Australasia, president of the Hospitality and Leisure Group of Lippo Karawaci and Aryaduta Hotels, president of Centara International Management, president and COO of Grand Circle Cruise Lines, and president and CFO of Mirage Resorts and Hotels.

Christian Oliver Zunk has been appointed as General Manager at The Akyra Thonglor Bangkok

Akaryn Hotel Group has appointed Christian Oliver Zunk as general manager to oversee akyra Thonglor Bangkok, which soft-launched in December 2016. Zunk joins akyra from Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp and Resort in Chiang Rai, where he worked for nearly five years. Prior to that, he helmed an upscale boutique resort in Abu Dhabi. The hotel business school graduate and state-certified hotel manager has worked with Forte, Sofitel and Kempinski hotels across his native Germany, as well as stints with Four Seasons in New York and Hawaii. Zunk is a seasoned hotelier with 22 years of experience. This is his third senior management posting.
