Marina held her former position for nearly two years, starting in January 2014. Braica brings to the role extensive experience with the Chicago hotel market and supreme management skills, having handled the hotel’s 334 rooms the past four years.

Christopher Zarek has been appointed as General Manager at AC Hotel Chicago Downtown

Chris Zarek has been appointed general manager of the AC Hotel Chicago Downtown. Prior to this position, he served as general manager of the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington hotel. Zarek joined Marcus Hotels & Resorts in 2008 as human resources director at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. He has held several leadership roles within the company, including regional HR director for Milwaukee, director of food and beverage at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center and director of operations at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Marlene Poynder has been appointed as General Manager at Waldorf Astoria Chicago

Jerry Barnes has been appointed as General Manager at Pheasant Run Resort

Jerry Barnes has been appointed general manager for Pheasant Run Resort according to Gina Rinaldo, vice president of operations for the property's management company, Hostmark Hospitality Group. Barnes will oversee a staff of more than 300 and will ensure the resort's operations continue to run smoothly during the current multi-million dollar rejuvenation. The 18-year hospitality industry veteran returns to Pheasant Run, where he previously served as the interim general manager, after serving as general manager for the independent, four-star luxury all-suite Lake Eve Resort, a Walt Disney Resort Good Neighbor property in Orlando, FL. Barnes has spent the majority of his hospitality career managing full service hotels and resorts throughout the south and mid-Atlantic region including resorts in Clearwater Beach, FL, Annapolis, MD, and several hotels and resorts in the Orlando market. Originally from Michigan, Barnes is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint.

Jermaine Anderson has been appointed as Hotel Manager at LondonHouse Chicago

Jermaine Anderson, has been named Hotel Manager for LondonHouse Chicago a luxury lifestyle hotel located at the corner of North Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive. It is set to open spring of 2016 in Chicago's iconic London Guarantee Building along with a new 22-story architecturally synchronized modernist glass tower according to George Jordan, Senior Vice President of Operations for Oxford Hotels & Resorts. In his new role, Anderson will oversee day-to-day operations, marketing and sales, and will manage an expected team of over 250 employees for the 452-room property. It will feature nearly 25,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, a tri-level rooftop lounge, spa, fitness center and more. The hotel is being developed by Oxford Capital Group, LLC and is owned by an Oxford led venture with Angelo, Gordon & Co. Dieter Heigl has been appointed as Director of Operations at The JW Marriott Chicago

Dieter Heigl has spent the last four years at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare Hotel where he served as the general manager. He lead the 470 room hotel's $40 million renovation including the conversion of the public space and restaurant to new great room concepts, conversion of two restaurants to a new ballroom and meeting room, and more. Additionally, Dieter brings a wealth of knowledge to the JW Marriott Chicago culinary team with his past experience as a director of food & beverage, restaurants and as a past executive chef at hotels around the world including the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, Amsterdam Marriott Hotel, and Boston Marriott Copley Resort.

Marie Parodi has been appointed as Spa Director at JW Marriott Chicago

Marie Parodi joins the JW Marriott Chicago as director of the Spa at JW Chicago opening this July. She comes from The Spa at Williams Island Club in Miami where she served as the spa director for the past five years. While responsible for the spa operations she additionally oversaw the spa's renovation project including construction and design. In addition, she worked at other spas throughout Miami and Fort Lauderdale including Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, The Spa – Equinox, The Spa – The Shore Club and Noble House Hotels & Resorts – SpaTerre.

Lou DeMarchi has been promoted to General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Mettawa

Lou Demarchi has been promoted to general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Mettawa in Lake Forest, Illinois. Previously, Demarchi was the general manager at the Hilton Garden Inn Warrenville where under his leadership the hotel was ranked as the No. 1 hotel on TripAdvisor in the Warrenville area. Demarchi’s first general management experience was with the Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Midway Airport. He also has experience with both the Hyatt Place and Marriott International brands.

Claire Wroblewski has been appointed as General Manager at SpringHill Suites Schaumburg

Claire Wroblewski has been promoted to general manager of the SpringHill Suites Schaumburg in Illinois. Wroblewski was the assistant general manager at the SpringHill Suites Schaumburg from 2012-2013 before becoming the general manager at her most recent property, the Residence Inn Chicago Southeast. Wroblewski also brings experience as an operations manager at the Holiday Inn Express Midway, cluster event coordinator and interim cluster event manager at the Midway Hotel Center, and housekeeping supervisor at the Courtyard Midway to her new role. She began her hospitality career as a rotational management intern at the Radisson Hotel Lansing and Doubletree Hotel Dearborn for Winegardner & Hammons, Inc.

Karen McGuigan, general manager of Hyatt Centric the Loop Chicago, made the announcement. Barker possesses a strong Chicago-based hospitality background with more than ten years of experience in employee and labor relations, performance management and HR policies and procedures for hotels including Chicago’s Essex Inn, Hotel Arista, The Renaissance Blackstone Hotel and Westin Chicago Northwest.
