Dieter Heigl has been appointed as Director of Operations at The JW Marriott Chicago

Dieter Heigl has spent the last four years at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare Hotel where he served as the general manager. He lead the 470 room hotel's $40 million renovation including the conversion of the public space and restaurant to new great room concepts, conversion of two restaurants to a new ballroom and meeting room, and more. Additionally, Dieter brings a wealth of knowledge to the JW Marriott Chicago culinary team with his past experience as a director of food & beverage, restaurants and as a past executive chef at hotels around the world including the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, Amsterdam Marriott Hotel, and Boston Marriott Copley Resort.

Marie Parodi has been appointed as Spa Director at JW Marriott Chicago

Marie Parodi joins the JW Marriott Chicago as director of the Spa at JW Chicago opening this July. She comes from The Spa at Williams Island Club in Miami where she served as the spa director for the past five years. While responsible for the spa operations she additionally oversaw the spa's renovation project including construction and design. In addition, she worked at other spas throughout Miami and Fort Lauderdale including Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, The Spa – Equinox, The Spa – The Shore Club and Noble House Hotels & Resorts – SpaTerre.

Lou DeMarchi has been promoted to General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Mettawa

Lou Demarchi has been promoted to general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Mettawa in Lake Forest, Illinois. Previously, Demarchi was the general manager at the Hilton Garden Inn Warrenville where under his leadership the hotel was ranked as the No. 1 hotel on TripAdvisor in the Warrenville area. Demarchi’s first general management experience was with the Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Midway Airport. He also has experience with both the Hyatt Place and Marriott International brands.

Claire Wroblewski has been appointed as General Manager at SpringHill Suites Schaumburg

Claire Wroblewski has been promoted to general manager of the SpringHill Suites Schaumburg in Illinois. Wroblewski was the assistant general manager at the SpringHill Suites Schaumburg from 2012-2013 before becoming the general manager at her most recent property, the Residence Inn Chicago Southeast. Wroblewski also brings experience as an operations manager at the Holiday Inn Express Midway, cluster event coordinator and interim cluster event manager at the Midway Hotel Center, and housekeeping supervisor at the Courtyard Midway to her new role. She began her hospitality career as a rotational management intern at the Radisson Hotel Lansing and Doubletree Hotel Dearborn for Winegardner & Hammons, Inc.

Livia Barker has been appointed as Director of Human Resources at Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago

Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago, the first hotel to open under Hyatt’s new Hyatt Centric lifestyle brand aimed at modern explorers, has hired Livia Barker as human resources manager. Karen McGuigan, general manager of Hyatt Centric the Loop Chicago, made the announcement. Barker possesses a strong Chicago-based hospitality background with more than ten years of experience in employee and labor relations, performance management and HR policies and procedures for hotels including Chicago’s Essex Inn, Hotel Arista, The Renaissance Blackstone Hotel and Westin Chicago Northwest.

Daniel Lewellin has been appointed as Director of Sales & Marketing at Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago

Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago, the first hotel to open under Hyatt’s new Hyatt Centric lifestyle brand aimed at modern explorers, has hired Daniel Lewellin as director of sales and marketing. Karen McGuigan, general manager of Hyatt Centric the Loop Chicago, made the announcement. In focusing on corporate, entertainment, sports, tour and travel markets, Lewellin has progressively advanced his career through a series of sales management positions at high- volume, full-service hotels locally. He most recently served as a senior sales manager at the Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront.

Markus Krebs has been named Hotel Manager at InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile by IHG

Bringing nearly 20 years of experience in hotel and food and beverage management, Markus Krebs oversees the day-to-day management of hotel operations for the historic hotel along Chicago's famed Michigan Avenue. Prior to joining InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, Krebs served as the General Manager at Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort and Spa in Thailand. Krebs also previously served as the Director of Food and Beverage at the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City.

Vik Khokhar has been appointed as Director of event planning at The JW Marriott Chicago

Khokhar has spent the last four years at the Dolce Hotels and Resorts, now part of Wyndham Hotel Group, where he started as the director of operations for the historic Seaview Golf Resort in New Jersey. In a short time, he was promoted to an assistant general manager, where he was a valuable contributor in redefining the brand. Additionally, Khokhar worked to establish standards for inspiring meetings and special events. Before his work with Dolce Hotels and Resorts, he also worked at other hotel properties, including The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in St. Louis.

Michael Vaughn has been appointed as Executive Chef at Waldorf Astoria Chicago

The Waldorf Astoria Chicago announced today that Michael Vaughn will lead the culinary team as Executive Chef. Vaughn, a Chicago native, will oversee all conceptualization and creation of cuisine at Balsan, the hotel's casually elegant bistro and at the cozy and sophisticated Bernard's Bar. In addition, Chef Vaughn will also lead the culinary charge on in-room dining and spa cuisine at the Waldorf Astoria Spa & Health Club.

Stacey Nadolny has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Partner at HVS

Stacey Nadolny, an HVS Senior Vice President and Partner with experience on hundreds of hotel and resort assignments throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, has been assigned to lead the firm’s consulting and valuation division in Chicago.Stacey, a graduate of Cornell’s School of Hospitality Administration, worked at Hillstone Restaurant Group in Chicago before joining HVS in 2007. Just prior to her current position, she led the appraisal team operating out of the HVS satellite office in Columbus, Ohio. Nathan Kartsen has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center

A native of Owego, Illinois, Kartsen graduated from Roosevelt University in 2001 with a Bachelors of Science in Hospitality and Tourism. Kartsen pursued his first role as a professional hotelier as an Events/Convention Sales Manager role with Hiltons of Chicagoland (Hilton Chicago, Palmer House Hilton, Hilton OHare). From there, he went on to become the Assistant Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn Select in Naperville, on his way to becoming their Director of Sales. After excelling in sales generation at the Holiday Inn, Kartsen took a position as Director of Sales & Marketing at the Hyatt Lisle, and then at Millennium Knickerbocker, before being recruited by Portfolio Hotels & Resorts as the Director of Sales & Marketing at the Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center. Kartsen most recently became the newest board member of the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau.

As director of operations, Barbary will be responsible for developing and implementing procedures and strategies that will support the hotel’s customer service and profitability goals and work closely with the finance, sales, revenue management and human resource teams to ensure seamless operations. Prior to joining Hyatt The Loop Chicago, Barbary directed operations at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton Chicago and is highly knowledgeable about the city’s hospitality market.
