Chuck Randles has been appointed as Senior Director of Lodging Operations and General Manager at Grand Summit Hotel, A RockResort

The Grand Summit Hotel, A RockResort, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chuck Randles to senior director of lodging operations for Park City and general manager of the hotel. With more than 10 years of extensive knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry, Randles will be responsible for all operations at the newly-renovated property set at the base of Park City Mountain. He will also oversee the neighboring Silverado Lodge and Sundial Lodge, as well as the opening of the new Lift and Apex properties, which are currently under construction.

Afsi Bird has been appointed as Resort Manager at Montage Deer Valley

Bird joined Montage Deer Valley in 2015 as director of rooms where she was responsible for all guest relations, including assuring top-of-line accommodations and exceptional service from the resort’s front desk and reservations office. Prior to living in Park City, Bird resided in Denver where she held various roles including general manager at Hotel Teatro and area general manager for The Crawford Hotel and The Oxford Hotel & Spa, overseeing the hotel’s pre-opening efforts. She also spent nearly two decades with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, including eight years as director of rooms at Four Seasons properties in Newport Beach, Scottsdale, Santa Barbara, and Aviara.

My Place Hotel-St. George, UT Opens

My Place Hotels of America is pleased to announce the groundbreaking of Utah"s third My Place Hotel, located in the beautiful city of St. George. Victorio Gonzalez has been appointed as Resort Manager at Montage Deer Valley

An integral part of the management team since the company’s inception in 2003, Gonzalez brings 30 years of experience in luxury hospitality. He joined Montage Hotels & Resorts as opening Studio Manager of the company’s first property, Montage Laguna Beach, was promoted to Director of Restaurants and went on to serve as Director of Food & Beverage at Montage Laguna Beach and Montage Beverly Hills.

Elie W. Maalouf has been named President, The Americas at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) today announces that Kirk Kinsell will step down from the Board and his role as President of IHG’s Americas business on 13th February 2015. He will be succeeded by Elie Maalouf, Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Company and formerly President and Chief Executive Officer of HMSHost Corporation. Mr Maalouf will become a member of IHG’s Executive Committee.

Allen Highfield has been appointed as General Manager at Montage Deer Valley

Highfield joins Montage Deer Valley with an extensive and diverse background in the luxury hospitality industry where he has operated in resort mountain destinations, as well as urban luxury properties. Most recently, he served as General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. It was during Highfield's tenure as General Manager that the hotel received recognition as one of the "Top 20 Best City Hotels in the World" by Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report - the only Ritz-Carlton that year to receive this distinguished award. Prior to his position at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, Highfield was the opening General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. While with Ritz-Carlton, Highfield also held the positions of General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown (Washington, DC), Hotel Manager of The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park (New York City), and Director of Operations of The Ritz-Carlton Club, Bachelor Gulch (Colorado). He began his hospitality career with Hyatt Regency and also held several management positions at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago, Illinois and the Little Nell in Aspen, Colorado, prior to joining Ritz-Carlton. Highfield is a graduate of Arizona State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.

Jef Fazzio has been promoted to General Manager at the SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City Airport

Jef Fazzio has been promoted to general manager of the SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City Airport. Fazzio started his career in hospitality as an event coordinator for Scenemakers in Salt Lake City. In 2008, he joined the Hilton Salt Lake City Airport as a sales manager and became the front office manager of that same property in 2009. In 2011, he joined the team of the SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City Airport as an operations manager II. Most recently, he was the opening assistant general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Salt Lake City Airport.

Shandi Bo Evertsen has been promoted to General Manager at Residence Inn Salt Lake City

Shandi Bo Evertsen has been promoted to general manager of the Residence Inn Salt Lake City. Evertsen started her career as the assistant general manager of the Holiday Inn Price, UT, before taking a break from hospitality to be the manager of Reams Western Outfitters. In 2005, she received her real estate license, and worked as a realtor for three years before returning to the hospitality industry as the director of sales and marketing at the Wingate by Wyndham in St. George, Utah. She joined White Lodging in 2009 as the director of sales for the Hilton Garden Inn in St. George. Most recently, Eversten was the director of sales at the Hilton Garden Inn Scottsdale North Perimeter.

Tim Johnson has been appointed as General Manager at Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa, a Personal Luxury Resort

Tim Johnson joins Sorrel River Ranch following serving as resort manager for the Resort at Paws Up, a 37,000-acre luxury property located in Western, Montana. In this capacity Mr. Johnson was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the resort and spa, including the extensive acreage, vacation homes and glamping – or luxury camping -- tents.

Evan Clapper has been appointed as program director at Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa

Benchmark Hospitality International, a leading U.S.-based hospitality management company, has appointed Evan Clapper program director of Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa. Linda Cerra, general manager for the ranch, Benchmark’s Personal Luxury Resorts & Hotels property located in Moab, Utah, made the announcement. An extreme sports adventure enthusiast, Evan Clapper was previously field director for Wilderness Quest, a wilderness-based therapeutic program for teens and young adults struggling with addictions. Prior to this he managed logistics and instruction for a variety of guide services, outdoor programs, and wild lands restoration projects on the Colorado plateau. Clapper has also worked with Moab-area schools as site coordinator for afterschool programming. Mr. Clapper's professional and academic careers combine high backcountry skill levels with degrees in Outdoor Recreational Leadership and Environmental Sciences. He is a graduate of Colorado Mesa University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences and Technology. He earned his Associates degree in Outdoor Recreation from Colorado Mountain College. Clapper is the recipient of numerous nationally-recognized certifications. He resides in Moab.

Zachary Frangos has been appointed as General Manager at The Sky Lodge

Prior to joining The Sky Lodge, Frangos most recently served as opening general manager of Escala Lodge in Park City, part of the Canyons Resort. In 2006, he became vice president of hotel operations/managing partner at Avenue Communities, where he managed a new “urban resort” condominium concept with five separate locations in downtown Park City. Given Frangos’s knowledge of the area and his experience at some of the best properties in the region, he welcomed the opportunity to join The Sky Lodge.

Andrew Powers has been appointed as Executive Chef at Sorrell River Ranch Resort & Spa

Benchmark Hospitality International has appointed Andrew Powers executive chef for Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa, located in Moab, Utah. Linda Cerra, Benchmark’s interim general manager for the exclusive property, one of Benchmark’s Personal Luxury Resorts & HotelsSM, made the announcement. Andrew Powers was previously executive sous chef for Spruce, the restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria in Park City, Utah. He has held numerous chef positions during his productive career. These include serving as executive chef, chef de cuisine, and banquet chef for restaurants, country clubs and resorts in markets as diverse as Dallas, Austin, and St. John, US Virgin Islands.
