Tidewater Debuts 172-Room Moxy Hotel In Downtown Oakland

Tidewater Capital, a San Francisco based real estate investment and development company, today announced the completion of Oakland's first Moxy Hotel, a young-at-heart brand by Marriott International. In partnership with co-developer Graves Hospitality, Tidewater is introducing Moxy Oakland Downtown as the first modularly constructed Moxy in the U.S., applying this sustainable construction method to generate less waste and increase the building's energy efficiency. The development of the 172-room Moxy Oakland Downtown is also the result of Tidewater utilizing the opportunity zone investment program.

The Monterey Bay icon completed a property-wide transformation that includes: 560 redesigned guestrooms and suites, reimagined public spaces, the addition of Central Coast Provisions, the hotel's new market; and Sea Root Restaurant and Hearth, the signature restaurant opening in spring 2021. Le Méridien Pasadena Arcadia Hotel, the newest addition to Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, Inc., has appointed Dan Zwirn to helm the property that will officially open on May 25, 2021. The seasoned General Manager most recently oversaw the opening of the TRYP Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pa., a luxury boutique property in the heart of Pittsburgh's trendy Lawrenceville neighborhood. Prior to that, he held leadership roles in hotels across the country including General Manager at Le Méridien Philadelphia and opening General Manager at the Westin Wilmington. Zwirn knows the hospitality industry well, as he worked his way up from a bellman at the Sheraton La Jolla to holding positions across the spectrum of all hotel disciplines from food and beverage leadership to rooms and operations at various upscale hotels around the country.
