2022 Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Key Takeaways

The 2022 Future Hospitality Summit, held September 19-21 in Dubai, brought together nearly 1,100 hotel owners, investors, operators, brand representatives, and consultants. Leading hospitality executives—including our own, Hala Matar Choufany, President of HVS Middle East, Africa & South Asia—served on panel discussions that addressed topics related to hotel development, financing, sustainability, and hotel management, as well as the near and long-term future of the MENA tourism industry. Throughout the conference, there was a sense of great optimism supported by reports of continued hotel performance improvements in markets across the region, as well as a strong investment outlook from developers and government entities.

The circular economy (CE) is a systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. Circular economy practices are known to be governed by the "3Rs", namely Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, which are the major strategies used for promoting the circulation of products and materials, thereby lowering waste and pollution, and aiding to regenerate nature. Open letter to the Hospitality and Travel industry

Earlier this week, as I was scanning my news feed for updates of relevance, I came across a headline that quickly captured my attention: What Native Hawaiians want you to know before your visit. As someone who spent much of his childhood in Hawai’i, any mention of the island conjures an inevitable wave of nostalgia and appreciation. In this particular context, though, that nostalgia was mixed with resonance, as the author called upon an issue I was aware of, but hadn’t found a way to articulate or champion.
