UN Tourism and World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance to Advance Common ESG Framework

The ESG Framework for Tourism Businesses, developed by UN Tourism in collaboration with the University of Oxford SDG Impact Lab, is aimed at helping enterprises across the sector measure and report their sustainability efforts and impacts more consistently and reliably. With this new agreement, UN Tourism will work alongside the Alliance to test the Framework, refine its indicators and relevant tools, and foster stakeholder engagement.

The Set Collection announces partnership with global wildlife conservation charity, WWF, in a commitment to environmental stewardship

The Set Collection is proud to announce its partnership with WWF, a global force in wildlife conservation and sustainable development. In a demonstration of their shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability, The Set Collection has made an initial donation of £10,000 on behalf of its three founding hotels, Lutetia Paris, Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam, and Hotel Café Royal in London. Through this donation, The Set Collection have adopted over 300 endangered animals and pledges ongoing support through additional donations and wider partnership activations over time.

Capitaland Ascott Trust is the First Lodging Trust to Secure OCBC 1.5°C Loan

CapitaLand Ascott Trust (CLAS) is the first lodging trust to secure an OCBC 1.5°C loan. With this S$165 million sustainability-linked multi-currency revolving credit facility, CLAS will receive interest rate reductions upon meeting the agreed annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets. Proceeds of the facility will be utilised for general corporate purposes.

Marriott Launches HotelHelp Pilot for Short-Term Emergency Stays for Human Trafficking Survivors

At the AHLA Foundation’s third annual No Room for Trafficking (NRFT) Summit in connection with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Marriott International, Inc. announced the pilot launch of HotelHelp, a rooms donation program for survivors of human trafficking. HotelHelp currently works with Marriott’s portfolio of hotels that are willing to donate short-term emergency stays and established care providers who book these rooms for the survivors they support.

RIU approves two new sustainable policies to keep making progress with its Proudly Committed strategy

RIU Hotels & Resorts has taken yet another important step forward in its Proudly Committed sustainability strategy with the approval of two key policies: the Sustainability Policy and the Procurement and Supplier Policy. These two documents will guide hotel operations and the supply chain towards a more responsible, ethical and sustainable model. RIU’s Sustainability Committee gave the policies the green light before submitting them to the chain’s Board of Directors, which approved the policies and their implementation at its last meeting.
