Le Méridien Hong Kong, Cyberport Announces Major Makeover Plans
Le Méridien Hong Kong, Cyberport will temporarily suspend all its services on April 20th, 2021 to undergo a major facelift. The hotel rooms, restaurants and public areas will be completely redesigned and renovated to provide state of the art accommodation, refined dining and superb function space with a target re-opening date in November 2021.
Since 2004, Le Méridien Hong Kong, Cyberport has been a favourite urban resort for leisure and business travellers alike, being located along the sea in the south side of Hong Kong Island between Pok Fu Lam Reservoir and Victoria Peak, few minutes away from both Ocean Park and Central district. The temporary closure kicks off a thorough remodeling which aims at enhancing the 170 rooms and suites, four restaurants and bar, and various meeting rooms of the hotel.
ALT-254, a Hong Kong based architecture, design and construction firm, has been selected to deliver a unique identity with modern living aspirations integrated within Cyberport campus' ecosystem. The design takes on a sleek and elegant twist to the mid-century modern style, combining muted tones for relaxation and accents where highlighted moments are desired, aimed to deliver an effortless harmony between the interior experiences and the surrounding nature.
The combination of Le Méridien Hotel's brand philosophy and specific elements of Cyberport's digital technology hub are manifested through deliberate and surprising juxtapositions, from the choice of materials such as timber and metal details, to the artworks of the hotel. Art pieces will be on display through a combination of video art, digital print, and virtual reality activation through the use of smartphone camera. The hotel design pays homage to Le Méridien's brand value focusing on art accessibility and offering local, inspiring experiences to the culturally curious travellers.
