While the effects of COVID-19 on Maine's overall economy—and the hospitality industry specifically— have been significant, one hotel chose to make the most of the reduction in visitors brought on by the pandemic by undertaking a major renovation effort. The Courtyard Portland Downtown hotel, located on Commercial Street in the heart of the Old Port, recently completed the renovation of all 132 guest rooms and public spaces.

In addition to the new décor, the hotel has added safety features in this time of COVID, including certified HEPA air filtration units in each guest room and air purification systems in public spaces.
