Flamingo Resort In Santa Rosa, California Debuts Reimagination And Joins The Spoken Brand By Point Group

Flamingo Resort, part of the SPOKEN brand by Santa Rosa-based hotel management company Point Group today unveiled a multimillion-dollar reimagination that introduces guests to an immersive wellbeing experience set across a lush 10-acre campus. A cornerstone of the Santa Rosa community for over 60 years, the iconic 170-room resort provides convenient access to a variety of parks, nature trails and Sonoma Wine Country with more than 200 wineries. This tucked away oasis features the Lazeaway Club restaurant, Wild Bird poolside dining, the Watering Hole pool bar, 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor private and communal gathering spaces, a year-round heated pool and hot tub, a 20,000 square-foot full-service health club, fitness center and spa, Pilates and cycling studio, five tennis courts and a lap pool.

Mid-Century Modern Design

Built in 1957, the buildings, rendered with natural materials and iconic angular silhouettes, are the original work of master architect Homer A. Rissman. Weddle Gilmore Architects and BAR Architects have completely transformed the mid-century hotel into a spirited escape with a stunning, new porte cochere entry, an entirely redesigned lobby and check-in experience, the Lazeaway Club restaurant and bar with an outdoor lanai dining terrace, and all 170 guest rooms and suites. The new architectural palette of wood, steel and glass seamlessly complement the classic mid-century design and modern touches that both honor the resort's legacy while infusing a relaxed contemporary vibe into the Flamingo.

As soon as guests arrive at Flamingo Resort, they are immediately drawn through the floor to ceiling glass windows of the new porte cochere to the focal point and social center of the hotel - the pool and lush courtyard featuring a commissioned HYBYCOZO garden sculpture. The designers approached the lobby as a residential plan, creating an inviting space for guests to be greeted at a large table similar to a kitchen island where guests can enjoy a welcome beverage and a relaxing check-in. The casual lobby setting emulates the experience of arriving at someone's home with teal couches that are serpentine shape with a velveteen fabric. Custom light fixtures play off a tropical feel, bringing the outdoors in with palm leaves, pompous grass, and fox tails making reference to the natural agricultural area of Santa Rosa. The integration of art throughout the hotel consists of curated vintage and modern photographs, prints, paintings and commissioned art pieces including a multi-ethnic, provocative lobby wall mural by Serge Gay Jr., a HYBYCOZO pendant chandelier in the Entry Foyer of the meeting spaces, and a stunning rope sculpture by artist Windy Chien which adorns the wall outside the main ballroom.

All-New Guest Rooms

Flamingo Resort's 156 guest rooms and 14 spacious poolside suites, many with private outdoor patios, are designed to effortlessly blend the resort's mid-century architecture with a fresh modern design, creating a sanctuary for guests to relax or work remotely. The rooms feature floor to ceiling windows and reference the '50s, '60s, and '70s eras with a color palette that plays off soothing blush colors and bright teals, teak wood millwork, brass and gold finishes and a tulip table for guests to work or eat in the comfort of their room. Premium suites emulate a loft-style studio apartment, while the family rooms include a king bedroom, living area, and smaller second bedroom furnished with kids' bunkbeds. All of the guest rooms and suites are situated within five, two-story buildings with walk up access across the resort's lush 10 acres, providing plenty of wide-open spaces to roam.
