An historic four-star 17th Century Oxford hotel has today announced the completion of a major refurbishment, following £2.5million investment in a 17-bedroom extension and new Champagne Terrace Bar and Lounge.

The Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel in Oxford, owned and managed by leading hotel investment and management company Amaris Hospitality, has overseen the substantial transformation of a new accommodation wing - supporting a major enhancement of its accommodation offering and the creation of much-needed additional capacity, particularly for the peak tourist season.

Through the refurbishment, the hotel now offers 81 bedrooms, renovated to incorporate the traditional feel of the 17th century coaching Inn within the original hotel. The newly added bedrooms are inspired by the historic city of Oxford, where old meets new, blending modern interiors and contemporary charm.

In addition, the transformation includes an exciting new food and beverage concept to complement the existing dining facilities - a purpose-built Champagne Terrace Bar and Lounge that offers afternoon tea and drinks to both hotel guests, visitors to Oxford and local residents with stunning views of the historic city of Oxford.

Work commenced on site in early 2020, with the transformation being completed and delivering a best-in-brand hotel for Amaris Hospitality, ensuring the hotel's bedrooms, facilities and service exceeds customer expectations and fully delivers on the hotel's standing.
