The Charleston Place Unveils Next Phase of $150 Million Reimagination with Newly Transformed Club Level and Pool Experience
The Charleston Place, a defining landmark in the heart of Charleston's historic district at the corners of King, Market and Meeting Streets, announces the completion of the next phase of its ongoing $150+ million reimagination, ushering in a renewed era for the beloved hotel and longtime gathering place for guests, locals, and visitors alike. Building on the property's transformation under BHC, this latest chapter introduces a newly reimagined Club Level, an elevated rooftop pool experience with garden bar, a redesigned arrival area, and newly refreshed guest rooms and suites.
The Pool: Introducing Perch, A Garden Bar Above Charleston
Elevated, light-filled and entirely private, The Charleston Place's reimagined rooftop pool and garden bar, Perch, introduce a new poolside retreat above the city, where architecture, nature and hospitality meet with intention. Reserved exclusively for hotel guests, the space features a saltwater swimming pool and both indoor and outdoor dining areas where guests can enjoy crisp wines, cocktails, and seasonal plates designed for the setting.
The pool experience will also feature signature hourly amenities — from a morning breakfast pastry and mini acai cups to chilled towels, ice-cold seasonal fruit, aloe vera juice and after-sun care — and a daily signature cocktail and mocktail pour for the evening pool crowd. A complimentary amenity station will offer infused water and SPF 30 and 75 sunscreen options throughout the day.
The culinary experience at Perch follows suit with a menu that is light, bright and seasonal, featuring fresh crudo, stone fruit salads and grilled local produce alongside refined classics like lobster rolls, turkey clubs and caprese, paired with crisp wines, frozen indulgences, spirit-free serves and cocktails designed for the rooftop setting.
The Club: A More Personal Expression of Charleston Hospitality
Privately situated on the seventh and eighth floors of The Charleston Place, the newly reimagined Club Level introduces a refined hotel-within-a-hotel experience centered around traditional butler service, thoughtful rituals and the quiet comfort of being known. Designed to feel more like a private residence than a hotel lounge, Club Level offers 75 renovated guest rooms and an intimate two-story Club Lounge reserved exclusively for Club Level guests. The experience begins well before arrival, with formally trained and certified butlers preparing each stay with intention — from pre-arrival communication and itinerary building to curbside greetings, seamless escorts to the room and personalized touches throughout the visit.
At the heart of the experience is the Club Lounge, a calm gathering space offering complimentary culinary presentations throughout the day and signature rituals that bring a distinctly Charleston rhythm to the stay. Guests can enjoy breakfast, family-style lunch, afternoon fare, premium hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, full dinner service, desserts and cordials, with menus that evolve daily and draw inspiration from seasonality, global flavors and local Lowcountry craftsmanship. Each evening beginning at 4:30 p.m., The Butler's Evening Pour offers a gracious pause before the night begins, with the Butler team delivering a "Dressing Drink" — a signature cocktail or glass of wine — directly to the guest room, accompanied by seasonal touches and personalized service.
The Next Chapter, Already Underway: Arrival and Guest Rooms
The front drive at The Charleston Place has reopened, marking a new chapter in how the hotel welcomes guests and the Charleston community. As part of the upgrade, the arrival area was completely redesigned with a formal iron gate and crepe myrtles arching over the approach. Thoughtfully reimagined, the arrival is now more seamless and designed to set the tone from the very first moment. While the arrival experience has evolved, the bronze horse sculptures remain, now settled into their new home as a familiar presence in a refreshed setting.
The hotel also features newly reimagined guest rooms and suites that introduce an elevated, residential feel, defined by a calming palette with soft blue accents, classic millwork and sculptural brass light fixtures that nod to Charleston's architectural heritage. Each room is designed to feel inviting and refined, where ambient light and tailored detailing create a sense of ease and sophistication. Ironwork patterns are woven into custom carpets, while artwork reflects the surrounding Lowcountry landscapes. Guestrooms feature a walk-in shower or soaking tub, master-controlled lighting, large flat-screen television, mini refrigerator, executive-style writing desk, complimentary wireless internet and conveniently located USB charging outlets at the desk and nightstands. The refresh of all 419 guest rooms, including 56 suites, is expected to be completed in 2026, with reimagined rooms currently available for booking.
What's to Come
The Charleston Place's reimagination will continue to unfold in thoughtful phases, with additional updates planned across the hotel, including the lobby and public spaces. Once complete, the 419-key landmark property will blend gracious Southern hospitality with European-inspired grandeur, offering the warm and quietly confident service that has long defined The Charleston Place. The result will be an environment that fosters connection, enriches the lives of others and further establishes The Charleston Place as the city's central hotel and one of the South's most enduring and beloved destinations.
