Carlisle Bay Antigua to Unveil Phase Two of Multi-Million Dollar Resort Renovation

Five-star resort and member of The Leading Hotels of the World, Carlisle Bay Antigua is continuing its multimillion-dollar renovation with the second phase set to debut in October 2026. Building on the successful launch of Phase One in October 2025, which introduced fully renovated Ocean, Bay and Garden Suites designed by London-based designer Miminat Shodeinde of Miminat Designs, the next stage of the transformation will unveil newly reimagined Carlisle Suites and twenty Beach Suites now known as Signature Beach Suites. The second stage will be co-led by Shodeinde alongside Cara Doherty, part of the ownership group of Carlisle Bay.

Designed for today's luxury traveller seeking greater privacy, space and meaningful connections to a destination, this stage will introduce a more residential approach to luxury hospitality. Thoughtfully designed with generous living areas, bespoke furnishings and refined contemporary Caribbean interiors, the new suites are intended to feel more like elegant island homes than traditional hotel accommodations.

The two-bedroom Signature Beach Terrace Suites and Signature Beach Balcony Suites embrace a soft, light-filled aesthetic inspired by Antigua's sand, sea and sky. Flowing natural fabrics and an airy palette create a relaxed coastal atmosphere, while the addition of a second bathroom makes the suites especially well-suited for extended family holidays and multigenerational travel.

The three-bedroom Carlisle Suites will each be renamed after some of Antigua's most captivating and unspoiled destinations - Rendezvous Bay, Signal Hill, Fig Tree Drive and Great Bird Island. Each suite will subtly reflect the spirit of its namesake through carefully curated colour palettes, textures, artwork, handcrafted details and immersive experiences, complemented by rich timber detailing, architectural four-poster beds, expanded lounge areas and elevated finishes.

Following the overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s renovation, this phase will further evolve the resort's design vision, creating a cohesive aesthetic across the property while introducing accommodations that offer their own distinct character. Across both stages, neutral palettes, travertine flooring, and textured limewash walls create calming interiors inspired by Antigua's soft light, coastal landscapes and warm climate.

Locally inspired artwork and handcrafted elements further reinforce the resort's Caribbean identity. Rich walnut and teak tones reference Antigua's lush tropical vegetation, terracotta accents evoke Caribbean sunsets, while soft sand hues, woven textures and weathered limestone draw inspiration from the surrounding beaches. Many of the furnishings have been custom designed specifically for Carlisle Bay, with every material selected not only for its beauty but also for its ability to stand the test of time.

As part of the renovation, Carlisle Bay commissioned local artist and gallery owner Sallie Harker of Fig Tree Studio Gallery to create a series of original woodcut artworks for the Carlisle Suites. Inspired by traditional rainforest dancers, each piece reflects the landscape and character of its suite's namesake, from the lush rainforest of Fig Tree Drive to the secluded shoreline of Rendezvous Bay, bringing Antigua's natural beauty and artistic heritage into each space.

The resort-wide multimillion-dollar renovation is being thoughtfully delivered in carefully planned phases, with all guest suites, the Entrance Pavilion and Bar, together with Indigo on the Beach, scheduled for completion by November 2027. Future enhancements, including the continued evolution of the resort’s wellness offering, will be delivered during scheduled annual resort closure periods to ensure the guest experience remains uninterrupted. Each stage of the refurbishment reflects Carlisle Bay’s long-term vision to thoughtfully evolve the resort while preserving its distinctive sense of place, guided by the principles of timeless elegance, authentic Caribbean identity and exceptional guest experiences.

As Carlisle Bay Antigua’s renovation continues, additional details will be shared in due course. For more information or to make a reservation, visit www.carlisle-bay.com or call +1 (268) 484-0000.
