Newly refurbished rooms and public spaces are complemented by a series of creative guest experiences inspired by the building’s history as a centre of communication. A replica Royal Mail green post box, hand-drawn postcards, contemporary art, sleep poems and literary events invite guests to write, reflect and connect, bringing the hotel’s defining concept, the Art of Expression, to life.

As part of Autograph Collection Hotels, the hotel retains the individual character and distinct London identity that sets it apart, while connecting with Marriott Bonvoy members and travellers around the world. Hand-selected for its distinctive craft, perspective and original story, Montcalm Royal London House joins a global portfolio of independent hotels, each shaped by a clear vision, soul and sense of place.

Refreshed Interiors that Embrace the Art of Expression

All 253 guest rooms and suites have been thoughtfully refurbished with new interiors that blend sleek, understated style with indulgent comfort. A palette of calming neutrals sets the tone, complemented by richer accents in cushions, artwork and feature walls, all of which add character and personality. Each room offers a peaceful retreat from the surrounding City, complete with luxury bathroom amenities, rain showers or deep bathtubs and plush beds.

Brand-new Terrace Suites have also been introduced, each offering direct access to a private terrace and dedicated outdoor lounge area. Located on the building’s top floor, the suites boast uninterrupted views across the London skyline, with private outdoor spaces providing an idyllic setting to relax and take in the city from above.

Rooms feature a curated selection of books themed around the history of the postal service and culture of letter writing, alongside poetry collections celebrating the written word, from classic British poets to contemporary voices.

Furnishings, artwork and storytelling details continue through the reception, lobby and public spaces. References to handwriting, correspondence and postal history connect the interiors to the building’s past while giving the hotel a contemporary identity. The story extends across the senses through the hotel’s scent, blending notes of rose, tobacco and aged paper to evoke the warmth and atmosphere of handwritten correspondence.

Curated Art Collections, Designed to Inspire

Creative studio, Culture A has overseen the styling and art curation throughout the hotel’s public spaces, with over 900 artworks by 30 artists forming collections designed to encourage discovery and conversation. Thoughtfully arranged prints, paintings and collages reflect the building’s heritage, celebrating the enduring art of correspondence through works inspired by the iconic shapes and deep reds of the classic British post box, alongside the expressive forms of handwritten script and letters.

The reception and lobby will host a rotating gallery of art in partnership with Rise Art, with seasonal exhibitions showcasing work by both established and emerging artists.

Elsewhere, the handwritten letter project features throughout the hotel, with abstract artwork created by Camille Rousseau, incorporating handwritten pieces contributed by different members of the Montcalm team.

Signed, Sealed and Delivered

Bringing the Art of Expression to life are two distinctive post boxes within the hotel: a replica of an original green Royal Mail post box, on loan from the nearby Postal Museum, and a traditional red post box, inviting guests to pause and take the time to send a handwritten message during their stay. Bespoke, hand-drawn postcards celebrate the hotel and its London surroundings, with the concierge team arranging for each message to be delivered to the guest’s chosen recipient.

The experience provides a simple and personal connection to the building’s former role as a centre of communication, transforming its postal history into something guests can actively take part in.

Poetry, writing and creative connection

The Art of Expression will also be brought to life through a programme of literary events and creative workshops, inviting guests to slow down, reflect and connect.

Montcalm Royal London House is collaborating with London Writers’ Salon to develop calligraphy workshops, writing salons and events inspired by the written word. The first events will take place from October 2026.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s longstanding partnership with Rise Art will present rotating exhibition launches, where guests can engage with contemporary art and learn the stories behind each artist’s work. The exhibition will launch on 1st October with a new collection released each season.

The hotel has also collaborated with Goldsmiths, University of London to create a collection of illustrated sleep poems for its guest rooms, offering a poetic invitation to pause, reflect and unwind.

Rooftop Dining, Restorative Wellness and Sophisticated Events

Alongside these new creative experiences guests can continue to enjoy the hotel's signature facilities. YĀTRĀ Signature Spa remains a sanctuary of calm, offering a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, alongside tailored spa packages that offer a holistic wellness experience, inspired by the ancient Ayurvedic wisdom and London's multicultural heritage. Meanwhile, Aviary Rooftop Restaurant & Bar serves seasonal British menus and signature cocktails against a panoramic city view. Montcalm Royal London House also offers a variety of flexible spaces designed for meetings, conferences and events, from private dinners and corporate gatherings to grand receptions up to 240 guests.

Thoughtful Hospitality with Purpose

The hotel remains committed to uniting thoughtful hospitality with genuine responsibility. Guided by Montcalm’s Collection’s sensitive luxury philosophy, environmental responsibility is integrated throughout the guest experience, from considered material choices to responsible operational practices. The hotel has held Green Key certification since February 2024 and is currently working towards EarthCheck. Montcalm Collection already holds two B Corp certifications for its Inhabit properties and is working towards achieving this status for the wider group, reinforcing its commitment to meeting high standards of social and environmental impact.
