Developed by Rodrigo Izquierdo Studio, the intervention reinterprets Tivoli Avenida Liberdade’s legacy through a refined language of Portuguese craftsmanship, noble materials and understated residential comfort. Drawing inspiration from the hotel’s architectural identity — including the modernist influence introduced by Portuguese architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro in 1955 — the redesigned spaces create a sophisticated dialogue between history and contemporary luxury.

The new interiors are defined by the bespoke “Lisbon Flair” palette: soft blues evoking traditional tiles, gentle greens inspired by the tree-lined Avenida da Liberdade and warm terracotta tones reminiscent of the city’s rooftops. Across the rooms, suites and corridors, solid wood, natural stone, brass, iron, curated artworks and bespoke furnishings shape an atmosphere that feels elegant, intimate and distinctly connected to Lisbon.

At the heart of this transformation are the Suites, conceived as a series of sophisticated urban residences, offering an elevated experience through personalised service, refined amenities and a strong sense of place. The renovation also includes the hotel’s Rooms, extending the same refined design approach beyond the suites. Created as elegant private retreats, the bedrooms offer a renewed sense of comfort and understated luxury, ensuring that the reimagined guest experience is reflected across both accommodation categories.

Throughout the redesigned rooms and suites, subtle references to the hotel’s heritage reinforce Tivoli Avenida Liberdade’s enduring relationship with Portuguese art and culture. A contemporary textile artwork reinterprets Sintra, the celebrated tapestry created by Mily Possoz for the Portalegre Tapestry Manufacture, while carpets inspired by the geometries of the hotel’s façade and gold medallions recalling the property’s original 1930s key fobs create a refined conversation between past and present. Decorative objects and ceramics curated by Felipa Almeida, together with works by Portuguese artists, add a distinctly local and artistic character. Bathrooms feature luxury amenities by the Portuguese brand Claus Porto in the fresh Citron Verbena fragrance, enhancing the sensory dimension of the stay and evoking the energy and freshness of a Lisbon morning.

Also recently renovated, Cervejaria Liberdade, one of the hotel’s signature dining venues, has preserved its historic grandeur while unveiling a more contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic. Here, authentic Portuguese flavours are served in an elegant setting defined by soaring ceilings and large windows overlooking the iconic Avenida da Liberdade. Led by Chef Miguel Silva, the restaurant celebrates the finest seasonal ingredients from both sea and land, honouring the traditions of a classic Lisbon cervejaria while bringing a fresh perspective to timeless recipes. The menu showcases the freshest fish and seafood sourced from the Portuguese coast, offering a sophisticated yet genuine taste of Portugal.

Among the hotel’s latest enhancements, is the recently opened wine store on the 9th floor - the 1933 Wine & Spirits Collection by Cellar 47. Designed around a premium, immersive concept, the new space offers a carefully curated selection of rare wines, special vintages and fine spirits, overseen by award-winning sommelier Jorge Silva. Through its partnership with Cellar 47, guests can discover exclusive international references alongside outstanding Portuguese producers, complemented by personalised recommendations, private tastings, masterclasses and bespoke wine experiences.
