andBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Lodge

The Delta, woven into every moment: New andBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Lodge

andBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is set to enter an exciting new chapter with an extensive rebuild that will see the intimate safari camp evolve and reopen as andBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Lodge in August 2027. Set within an exclusive 90,500-hectare (223,630-acre) concession in Botswana's Okavango Delta, Xaranna is immersed in one of the world's most extraordinary wilderness ecosystems: a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the seasonal flood transforms the landscape into a shifting mosaic of waterways, islands and floodplains. This delicate ecosystem supports an exceptional diversity of wildlife, and approximately 450 recorded bird species. Guided by the rhythms of the Delta itself, the new lodge will bring the landscape into every aspect of the guest experience, inviting travellers to rediscover this remarkable wilderness as a restorative place that reveals itself layer by layer.

Brought to life by award-winning multidisciplinary design practice LIFE Interiors Architecture Strategic Design, the redesigned lodge will reflect the unhurried qualities of the Okavango and the ever-changing relationship between land and water. Creative inspirations such as the gentle movement of the floodplains, the linearity of reeds and Botswana's rich weaving traditions will be translated through the intentional layering of natural materials and tactile finishes such as subtle rope detailing throughout the lodge. A softened palette of sage and forest green will accentuate the blonde linen and textured weaves, while timber and beaten brass bring warmth and depth. With carefully considered connections to the landscape, these raw and refined elements will allow the Delta's changing character to remain present throughout the lodge, effortlessly complementing one another. Exceptional guiding, thoughtful hospitality and elevated wellness are woven into one seamless journey that remains true to Xaranna's intimate character, enriching every aspect of the guest experience.

Reimagined guest areas have been conceived to encourage a natural flow between the interiors and the landscape beyond. Arriving by boat or vehicle, guests will be welcomed into the lodge's arrival experience before moving through a series of open, light-filled interiors that gradually reveal the Delta, culminating in generous lounge and living areas framed by uninterrupted views. At the heart of the lodge, the main guest area will serve as Xaranna's social heartbeat, bringing together lounge, dining and creative spaces in a setting inspired by the Setswana tradition of gathering. Indoor and outdoor dining settings will invite guests to connect over exceptional cuisine, while an interactive kitchen and al forno experience will create a more immersive culinary journey.

Guests can spend evenings beneath the stars in the traditional boma, settle into the library, or enjoy carefully selected wines in the sculptural wine bodega before ascending to the stargazing nest for panoramic views across the floodplains and night sky. Throughout, the lodge is designed to slow the pace and heighten the senses, encouraging guests to savour the quieter moments between adventures and connect more deeply with the shifting rhythms of the Okavango Delta.

The lodge has been reimagined to offer an even greater sense of space and privacy, featuring nine expansive Suites, each measuring 160 m² (1,722 ft²) and offering elevated comfort through thoughtfully designed living areas, personal bar and two-way fireplace. Each air-conditioned Suite will extend effortlessly outdoors to include spacious seating areas, a private pool and shaded sala, creating quiet places to pause between safari experiences. A new two-bedroom Family Suite of 404 m² (4,348 ft²) will further enhance the lodge's offering for families and small groups seeking exclusive accommodation without compromising the intimacy that has long defined Xaranna. The family accommodation comprises two Suites connected by interleading passageways to a central lounge and shared deck, creating a home-inspired sanctuary while retaining the flexibility for the Suites to be used individually when required.

Thoughtfully designed to consider multigenerational travel, Xaranna will welcome children of all ages and offer andBeyond's WILDchild programme, creating opportunities for younger guests to connect with the Delta through adventures and hands-on discovery. Guided by the same gentle rhythm that shapes the wider Xaranna experience, family safari activities unfold according to age and stage, allowing each guest to experience the wilderness in a way that feels both meaningful and unhurried. Children aged six to 11 years will be welcome on shared game drives subject to the discretion of the Lodge Manager, while those aged 12 years and older can also join seasonal motorised boat cruises. From age 16, guests can further deepen their connection with the landscape through guided walking safaris and seasonal mokoro excursions, allowing families to experience this remarkable wilderness together in increasingly immersive ways.

Beyond the lodge, guests will be able to experience Xaranna's established offering of land-, water- and sky-based adventures, from twice-daily game drives and guided walking safaris to seasonal mokoro journeys and motorised boat cruises, as well as community experiences, with private safaris and scenic helicopter flights available at an additional cost. Each day will be shaped by expert guides who respond to changing wildlife movements, seasonal conditions and the subtle signs of the landscape, ensuring that no two days at Xaranna are ever quite the same. Complementing these signature experiences, the renovation introduces a collection of new wellness, dining and lifestyle offerings that create additional opportunities to engage with the destination beyond traditional safari activities.

Reflecting the understanding that restoration is an essential part of any meaningful safari, the rebuild will introduce an entirely new approach to wellbeing. The dedicated wellness centre will combine tailored Healing Earth treatments with a range of experiences, including a bespoke apothecary, hammam, Rasul therapy and dedicated treatment tower. Rain and Vichy showers will complement the journey, while an outdoor hot tub and hydrotherapy deck create space to unwind to the sounds and stillness of the surrounding Delta.

Movement and wellbeing have also been thoughtfully woven into the guest journey through a newly created fitness area that extends beyond the traditional gym experience. Dedicated training areas and wellness spaces will offer premium Technogym equipment, a cold plunge pool, and a relaxation deck overlooking the wetlands. With Kneipp Therapy available, wellness becomes another way of connecting with the landscape, allowing guests to recharge both body and mind between time spent exploring.
