Metropolitan at The 9 is unveiling an extensive renovation encompassing all 156 guestrooms and suites, 10 guestroom corridors, the main lobby, elevator lobbies and cabs, and Ledger Bar. The redesign brings lighter finishes, custom furnishings and Cleveland-focused artwork to the hotel while preserving signature elements of its original design. All 156 guestrooms and suites are now complete, with the remaining renovations expected to be finished by November 5, 2026.

Inside the guestrooms, engineered hardwood flooring replaces carpet, complemented by new area rugs, mattresses and soft seating. Custom desks, nightstands and minibars pair light wood finishes with white quartz countertops featuring subtle gold veining. Updated vanities coordinate with the new millwork, while wood slat wall treatments, chevron tile at the minibars and oversized mirrors add texture and warmth.

Original guestroom headboards remain a defining feature. Inspired by the window detailing on the building's exterior, they connect the refreshed interiors to its architectural history. Newly selected artwork featuring Cleveland landmarks and local imagery gives guests another connection to the city.

The arrival experience centers on a new, single welcome desk and a stone feature wall with geometric wood detailing. Fluted wood paneling, refreshed furnishings and upholstery, and new area rugs complete the lobby updates. Elevator cabs feature new flooring, faux stone panels, wood slats and mirrors. Upstairs, Ledger Bar features a custom bar and backbar, including 45 linear feet of new bar millwork, along with updated seating.

Spanning more than 100,000 square feet, the renovation represents a significant transformation of the property. The project includes more than 300 pieces of new art, approximately 2,500 yards of fabric and 147 custom sofas and loveseats for the guestrooms. Custom guestroom millwork includes 156 desks, 156 minibars and 264 nightstands

Local companies contributed throughout the renovation. Burton Station Fixture Company and National Design Mart custom fabricated millwork for the guestrooms, lobby and Ledger Bar. Mont Granite supplied stone for the lobby welcome desk and wall, while Big Picture Cleveland handled custom artwork, framing and installation. Local upholsterers worked on lobby benches and leather column wraps. Guestroom soft seating was made in Valdese, North Carolina.
