In his new capacity, Mr. Tchen will be overseeing the launch of the ninth Peninsula hotel in Shanghai, which is due to open in late 2009. Born in France, Mr. Tchen is an alumnus of The California State Polytechnic University where he was named in 1999 as a Distinguished Alumnus. He was also awarded the prestigious "Young Hotelier of the World Award" in 1996 by the International Hotel Association and Hotels Magazine.
