Urgo Hotels, a major operator, developer and owner of upscale hotels, announced today that Richard Byrd has been appointed General Manager of Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Oceanfront (“Pompano Beach Marriott”) – Urgo’s fourth consecutive property in the South Florida market. Byrd, a seasoned Marriott International professional, is at the helm of the resort, bringing more than 28 years’ experience to his new position. Byrd’s extensive background in the hospitality industry is in part comprised of 15 years with the Marriott International brand, namely as General Manager of properties that included Orlando Airport Hotel; Indianapolis Marriott North; Columbus Marriott Northwest Hotel and Tucson Marriott University Park. Additionally, in 2009, Byrd was named General Manager of the Year Marriott Full Service Franchised Hotels, Americas.
