The first true German 5-star hotel in China, Maximilian Beijing, will open in October. Peter Schaumburg was appointed as general manager. Originally from Germany, Schaumburg has worked in the hospitality industry for decades. Prior to taking on his new role, he held a senior position with Key International Hotel Co, the management company of the Kempinski Hotel in China. The hotel is located in the Audi World complex, neighboring the new Wangjing business district and the National Stadium (Bird's Nest). Maximilian Beijing is operated by Steigenberger, one of the most famous luxury hotel management groups in the world. It is the most prestigious German luxury hotel management company, with over 80 years of experience. It is also the maiden trial for Steigenberger to bring German hospitality and culture to China.
