Antonio Saez Hotel Arts Barcelona has appointed Michelin starred Spanish Chef Antonio Saez as its new Executive Chef. Saez will oversee the kitchens at Hotel Arts and develop the hotel’s catering line. Originally from the city of Sabadell in Catalonia, Saez has honed his culinary skills in Michelin starred restaurants in Barcelona, San Sebastian and Abu Dhabi. In 2014, Saez returned to his homeland, becoming Executive Chef at Hotel Arts Barcelona. Chef Saez will utilise his vast culinary experience by overseeing more than 70 staff in the kitchens of Hotel Arts and working in collaboration with Michelin starred chefs Paco Perez at Enoteca restaurant and Sergi Arola at Arola restaurant and for the Arola Catering line. Chef Saez will also work to develop Arts Catering, the property’s sophisticated catering service available for both internal and external events. Chef Saez earned his diploma in Specialist Culinary Arts at Barcelona’s School of Culinary Arts & Hospitality Services while gaining experience in some of Barcelona’s top restaurants. Following graduation, Chef Saez moved to San Sebastian where he became Chef de Partie of the three Michelin starred Martin Berasategui Restaurant for three years before returning to Barcelona. Following a year as Executive Sous Chef of Hotel Condes, Chef Saez became Sous Chef at Lasarte, collaborating once more with Martin Berasategui and earning two Michelin stars during his time with the restaurant. The second Michelin star awarded in 2009 made Chef Saez the youngest Executive Chef in Spain with two Michelin stars at the tender age of 29. After six years with Lasarte, Chef Saez made the move to Abu Dhabi, becoming Executive Chef of two new restaurants at the five-star Rosewood Abu Dhabi Hotel. Here he successfully oversaw the launch of Catalan Restaurant and La Cava, positioning them among the best restaurants in Abu Dhabi. Arriving straight from the Middle East, Chef Saez will bring with him the vibrant and creative flair that the destination is internationally recognised for.
