Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, the first luxury resort development in the British Virgin Islands in more than 15 years and the first member of the Autograph Collection® in the Caribbean, has announced the appointment of Shawn Eddy as the new vice president of real estate sales. As vice president of real estate sales, Eddy, a BVI native, Yale scientist and graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, will oversee a sales inventory of marina village condominiums, stand-alone hillside villas and three-, four- and five-bedroom estate homes on the private island resort. Eddy’s firm, Emperor International, will work with Waypoint Resort Real Estate, a Florida-based agency specializing in the sales of resort real estate, and other partners worldwide to increase awareness of the real estate offerings around the island and renewed momentum of villa development. Eddy has been active in buying and selling investment real estate since he was 21 years of age, initially while participating in research at the Charles River Laboratories in Wilmington, Massachusetts. He continued pursuing his passion for residential and commercial real estate investments during his tenure at Yale, but despite his success as a scientist Eddy traded time in the lab to become a full-time real estate developer and restaurateur in Hartford, Connecticut, where he revitalized an entire city block of South Downtown Hartford. Prior to joining the Scrub Island real estate team, Eddy was a member of the Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty in Boston, Massachusetts.
